The issue that was supposed to print this week contained criticism of the Whitten regime and IUs further slide into scist control, and they couldn't allow that to happen during Homecoming, when all the rich alumni are in town. Enter Purdue! The Purdue student paper, The Exponent, owns its own presses. Yesterday, in an act of tremendous solidarity with their biggest rival school, they printed the forbidden issue of the IDS. They then drove it to Bloomington overnight and stocked all of the IDS boxes on campus, just in time for Homecoming. Solidarity is what makes us stronger, and solidarity will be what ultimately allows us to triumph, if we can ever truly get it together. I hope everyone has a fun, safe day if they're going out today, and I hope we can think about what acts of solidarity we can begin taking to really make this movement MOVE - beyond a permitted expression of upset into more active resistance. 75 12 comments

You won’t get any of them to answer this question because there isn’t an answer. I have assessed several “prompt” courses. They are very poorly watered-down writing instruction. Similar to how some professional programs strip radical theory for their purposes.

Efforts to enforce it must also contemplate race, otherwise they're meaningless. You can't protect people from race-based disenfranchisement if you can't take account of race.

The VRA extends in a straight line from Congress's 15th Amendment enforcement powers, and state actions undertaken...

I concede up front I'm not a lawyer, but the text of the 15th Amendment seems clear to me.

It recognizes a right to vote that cannot be abridged on account of race by states or the federal government and empowers Congress to enforce it. It's explicitly, specifically "race conscious," so to speak.

Re. arguments in the LA redistricting case: the Republican justices' willingness to let federal police reason from race or ethnicity to probable cause for an immigration stop and their apparent unwillingness to let Congress reason from race to anti-discriminatory election procedures is wild.

Unfortunately, reality is only apparent *after* elections.
