We act like we will be in some stalemate with Russia or China - fobs set up with ECPs and aerostats like Iraq or Syria. But to even get there, if we ever did, would mean a shit ton of conventional stuff is required

I am not an infantry purist and think technology will continue to change the battlefield as it always has. But almost exactly a year ago a shahed decided it wanted to check out my office. I’m
pretty certain if it was a missile wouldn’t be typing this right now.

So many layers to this; I love them all.

Half the time people talk about drones they just describe the capabilities of missiles (that we already have) but conflate them with quadcopter prices/production capabilities

Drones are used in UKR and by IAMGs because they DONT have our capabilities not bc they are BETTER than our capabilities

Have we thought about naming the dry docks after prominent klansman though? Would that increase lethality?

The only explanation is that they are all nihilists. They truly believe America is too big to fail and no matter what they break, destroy, or deport, it will have no measurable effect because we always seem to come out the other side relatively okay. Nothing matters, so why not win at all cost.

I think political parties should be focused on winning, building coalitions, persuasion, etc

But the idea that because someone wanted to put he/him on their LinkedIn profile caused someone else to be okay with the President declaring on a whim who gets citizenship just doesn’t make sense to me.

But Trump just can’t do it. He truly feels he’s the final arbiter of people’s fate. He acts like this power weighs heavy on him, a benevolent god-king.

There’s literally too many scandals/bad decisions to form a coherent argument. Hopefully some dem staffer is in charge of just writing down all these things for the House to investigate if they win in 2026.

I remember setting up a real world defense as company commander. I truly thought I was doing something so innovative. As an aside, I read unified land operations and quickly learned I simply did what the army wanted me to do and would have saved lots of brain power just reading it first.

How else does one mire themselves in complex war fighting? They should be bivouacking in the sulwaki gap and foot marching to the donbas weekly. It’s the only way.

I was fortunate enough to be in command during a deployment. My only regret was not asking Al Shabaab to run their attacks back. Reading his advice and in retrospect, I simply did not more my guys enough in complex war fighting decision making. This will ultimately cost lives in the future.

I just can’t get over how you write “it demands decisions when maps are blank, radios are dead and lives are on the line” in response to a photo of cadets on a staff ride. If he truly feels that way after looking at something like that, than I do not envy him. What a way to live your life.
