When conventional forces talk about working with SOF the biggest take away is usually “their (insert enabler or sustainers) were able to get X so much easier”

Acquisitions to distribution so much more streamlined and unit had so much more agency to do so.

Now if we allowed dual tracks on some of these things, like before, maybe it’s needed. But if a FAO is never going back to the line, we don’t need them to be the same kind of officer as an Infantry BDE CDR imo.we also shouldn’t dismiss their importance.

I think it’s also a product of attempting to enact a warrior culture that doesn’t necessarily need to exist across the entire force. It doesn’t make someone better to be infantry or combat arms but it’s also okay to acknowledge it requires different things than others (and different ≠ better!)

I think in theory it works well, because they have a baseline but they don’t cycle back “into the line” so they usually recall the regular army as they saw it as a LT or CPT. I think some of those functional areas are fine to keep in their current form but others would benefit with rotations

I’m the inverse. It’s just so weird to me that in 18 years in the infantry, of which over a decade was in the “woke” DEI army (I assume it started under Obama?) I haven’t had more minorities/woman bosses.

One of my favorite questions to ask people who tell me that DEI ruined the military is:

How many times have you been rated or senior rated by a woman or minority?
