🚨Ed Martin said he planned to use a criminal investigation into James and Schiff to β€œlook at everything else they've been doing.” That’s not how it works. A criminal investigation is not an excuse to pry, harass and threaten people about non-criminal conduct. This is dangerous.

The Putin-Trump meeting was a disaster, as predicted. Putin got everything he wanted: a photo op legitimizing his war crimes, no ceasefire, and no sanctions or new weapons for Ukraine.

Trump's goal was to keep Putin happy. He succeeded.

It remains wild to me both that Republicans have decided that outright blatant corruption is suddenly legal for this one guy and also that Democrats don't shout about it every single day.

β€œEmergency” is a word w/meaning that should be justified by facts.

FBI data suggests that Memphis, Cleveland,Toledo & Little Rock have higher crime rates.

The media would do well to interrogate the basis for the exercise of emergency powers rather than β€œresidents say crime really is bad” stories.

Gallego on Mamdani: "It's okay to say 'I disagree with this, this, and this, but I agree with that.' But the idea that we're just gonna throw out people that are really bringing in new ideas to the fold, exciting people, just because they're slightly to the right or to the left of us is dumb."

I’m filing a formal request for information about the Trump Administration’s action and role in directing federal law enforcement and military personnel in a recent operation intended to intimidate those defending a fair electoral process.

Poor Americans Will See Their Income Decrease Under Trump's Budget Law, CBO Says The biggest decreases for low-income Americans are due to cuts to Medicaid and SNAP.

The party of the working class: β€œHousehold incomes for the poorest Americans are estimated to drop by 3.1% by [2034], while the wealthiest Americans are estimated to see a 2.7% increase in incomes.”

BINGO. Increased paperwork, short deadlines for recert, decreased services to respond to queries...that's all part of the design to avoid saying "cuts" β€” to toss people off Medicaid that way. The admin & the MAGA Congress know that. Beshear is on point.

Man, seems like it might just be a good idea to check with someone other than administration flaks to see if that actually happens over the next year.

The people who lost children and other loved ones in the Texas floods are owed honest answers from officials. They should be told why flash flood warnings issued hours earlier were not conveyed to people in the path of the water. They don’t need more prayers from politicians. They need answers.

Those of us who warnedβ€”before the electionβ€”that a Trump regime would eventually come for everyone were called β€œcynics”, β€œalarmists”, β€œidiots”, or worse.

Fast forward to not even 6 months in to his second term and he is now calling for expelling American citizens as he opens concentration camps.

Mamdani is a naturalized citizen. Denaturalization has been used rare until now, but as I explained in my newsletter last night, DOJ is prioritizing it now. If your response is, that exceeds what the law allows, when has that ever stopped Trump? open.substack.com/pub/joycevan...

Senator Chuck Schumer, the minority leader, said on the Senate floor following passage of the Republicans’ tax and domestic policy bill that β€œtoday’s vote will haunt our Republican colleagues for years to come.”

β€œAs the American people see the damage that is done, as hospitals close, as people are laid off, as costs go up, as the debt increases, they will see what our colleagues have done, and they will remember it. And we Democrats will make sure they remember it,” he added.

Trump just floated deporting people who were born in the U.S. β€” saying many criminals "were born in our country. I think we ought to get them the hell out of here, too, you want to know the truth, so maybe that'll be the next job that we'll work on together."
