We sat down on the steep grassy slope as it descended over the cliff towards the nests of Black-browed Albatross. Near by on the edge, but not too close, sat an Albatross unperturbed by our presence, peaceful and unruffled. Then here was a sound of wings and we turned to see a second bird, landed so close its wings nearly brushed our backs. It walked forwards, within reach of our fingers had we wanted to stroke it, to greet its mate with a gentle clatter of beaks knocking back and fore, the two birds making quite chattering sound to each other. Then they set about with mutual preening, unhurried caressing and rubbing heads. Eventually they stopped, the newcomer walked over the cliff edge towards the nests and with one last look back at it's mate it was gone. The other waited then gazed out to sea, opened its long wings and flew effortlessly into the wind.
