really read, but people expect to be there. "Our products and services are of the highest quality..." type fluff. The most useful thing to me is that it has been able to provide me with snippets of code or instructions how to do something in software, but it's wrong at least 30% of the time.

I've reluctantly had to use AI for my job and it's had moments of usefulness, but it's really touch and go. Image generation is "good" for stuff that nobody's really going to spend much time looking at. I've used it for the backgrounds on flyers and stuff. Text gen is good for crap no one will

No worries! I was getting a little heated myself earlier today so I completely understand.

I've stated elsewhere in the thread that such an excuse to take over another nation reeks of imperialism, but people kept saying that Tibetans were murderers and cannibals with such conviction that I looked into that, too, and found little evidence for it.

No! I have learned today that I don't communicate very well. I was simply trying to offer proof that the original reddit thread linked here by someone else was likely erroneous in regards to pre-Chinese Tibet having practices amounting to human sacrifice.

And just for the record, I'm not defending pre-Chinese Tibet. It sounds like it wasn't a great place. But I was inspired by the discussion here to do some reading, and I thought the results were interesting and wanted to share my findings regarding Tibetan culture.

I would very much appreciate a citation on skinning people if you have one. Google couldn't provide me any examples. There's a lot of sources for brutal punishment but that's unfortunately not unusual for the 20th century.

Okay, fair! That's a much better point than unsourced claims of Tibetans skinning people!

To clarify, my intent there was that posting about Tibetan human rights abuses was whataboutism. That Tibetan abuses cannot absolve (hypothetical) Chinese abuses. That's all.
