is it only a matter of time until some deranged fan who's lost their shirt on an ill-advised parlay goes after an athlete or manager?
(maybe a remake of 'The Fan' (1996) is in order)

I'm just a lowly art historian, but in moments like these I always think back to one early sign of Trump's wanton, pointless destructiveness: his demolition of the priceless & irreplaceable Art Deco relief sculptures on facade of the Bonwit Teller building, which he tore down to build Trump Tower

concerning placental mammals: if you ignore the odd grouping of sloths, anteaters, elephants, et al., the rest belong to two major divisions.
I love that we've dubbed our superorder "Euarchontoglires", meaning true rulers and dormice, as it comprises primates, rabbits, and rodents. of mice and men.

This tragic but excellent article needs to be read by everyone throughout the country. The Republicans want to kill public ed. They are using state takeovers and charter school owning charlatans like Mike Miles (and his abusive NES) to do it. See at what they are stealing from our (soon your) kids!🧡

too many chess victories are Pyrrhic.
yes, I have wonβ€”but at what cost? how can I return to my realm: o, a lonely king with a mere two of his retinue left for protection and companionship?

thanks for the rec, I'll give it a listen. there was plenty of great video game music from that era; for example, it's hard to go wrong with any of David Wise's work for Rare (DKC2 is an all-time great, I think). I've found the vaporwave stuff hit or miss, but that's to be expected

My weekend cannabis use increases my stroke risk and my sedentary occupation is also bad for cardiovascular health (that, to my understanding, is not compensated for by near daily physical activity). I ride my bicycle in unprotected bike lanes.
