another one of their songs I want to include comes expressly from a furry BDSM album and if I can get it to play in gbstudio the plan is to have it play during Dimitri and Luca boning in THE FINAL TIMELINE.

the artist behind it is someone I have had mixed feelings about including but since their work is under creative commons and actually sounds good I feel like it'd be doing my game a disservice if I didn't cover at least one song.

this song is really important as I want it to be the final boss theme for timeline one.

all were made with RPG Maker, that is not a stain against RPG Maker nor does it mean RPG Maker is amazing bc RPG Maker is just a tool.

tools are neutral. unless said tool is funding genocide or other unsavory things, the tool really doesn't matter. It is almost always how you use it that really matters.

also this idea that something is tainted because it uses a tool you don't like is honestly kinda infuriating.

like I'd get it if we were talking about Gen-AI but we aren't we are talking about a beginner friendly game engine that requires skill to use in a way that makes something worth playing.

like you won't play gbstudio games because they aren't made the hard way and are "slop" but you are perfectly fine with people selling their souls to a far-right arms dealer's gameboy clone.

like in gbstudio I have a limit of 400 something variables. with how big the game I'm working on is I can't just do "clean coding" because clean code can be bloated.

like some may not consider using gbstudio's visual scripting as real coding but hear me out: if you are in a low-spec environment where variable counts will eat chunks of memory and storage space then magic numbers are one of the few options you can exercise.

magic numbers in programming are not inherently evil.

tools do not define the art that is produced using them.

I think that as an indie game dev without a large publisher, your target audience is not gamers in general, it is sickos.

It's hardcore sickos that will be diving the depths of your genre and finding your game, and it is sickos who will be spreading it.

honestly though if you want a homestuck anime that stays as close to the webcomic as possible just watch the Voxus dub. They've done the work of adapting like half of the comic.

I'm deadly serious when I say this:

if we can't collectively move the payment processors to stop censoring online storefronts and if we can't stop these censorship bills indie internet media will revert back to how it was in the early 2000's which is not a good thing.

I hope it plays with the medium as much as homestuck did. like there's stuff in homestuck that is more or less impossible to adapt but I hope they give it a fair shot.
