Business professor here β Whenever parents ask me if Iβd recommend my discipline, Iβm honest with them. My undergrad is a double major in English Language & English Literature and I know I got more out of it than I wouldβve a BBA.
Now a humanities-informed b-school, that would be ideal!!
Embarrassed to confess I hadnβt thought of this

I remember parents (always parents) at open days asking "what can s/he do with an English degree?" I answered that 75% of graduate jobs did not specify a subject. Employers wanted intelligent, resourceful people with transferable skills. English and humanities grads were ideal.

11.07.2025 21:02 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Best recent stats or articles on why majoring in English is valuable?
I'm looking for easily digestible stats for recruitment materials: e.g. X number of graduates are employed within Y timeframe; English majors are X behind only Y graduates in job satisfaction.
Thanks!
Humanities Indicators website has published reports on this and can sort by states. English specific seems harder to find. Iβm watching this space cuz Iβm doing the exact same thing for my dept
