It has got to be more complicated than that, but isn't apocopy seen as a rather definitive "deletion" of WF consonants ? As in Indo-Aryan schwa-deletion ?

Wondering if French word-final (WF) consonants are truly an instance of apocope (as mentioned in the Wiki page for "apocopy") since they're often classified as "latent" in cases where liaison doesn't occur (Walker, 2001).

Today I Learned:
In Italian, affricates are geminated intervocalically.
pizza /ˈpit.t͡sa/
Venezia /veˈnɛt.t͡sja/ ‘Venice’
veneziano /ve.netˈt͡sja.no/ ‘Venetian’
I thought this was only reflected by <zz> but it occurs regardless of orthography. (I am bad at perceiving geminates.)

In India for 3 days now, and the entire Gangetic plains are under thick smog. 😥
The sun never fully comes out, the air smells of smoke, eyes water all the time. And this is the most densely populated part of the world. Hundreds of millions of people just surviving here everyday.

Bilabial implosives are mainstream (again?) thanks to the home minister. A lot of [ɓaŋgaːl] is going to be said and heard in the months to come.

*Almost* guessed what an "ablative surgery" could mean based on the fact that it has "ablative" as part of its name. I should start learning Lat... nvm.
