i think a lot of people would benefit from better bike and pedestrian access here, not just condo owners!!

there are good uses for cool-looking bridges like this, just not in this setting and not when a main purpose is to safely and efficiently move bikes. but many dense cities in asia have these kinds of pedestrian bridges and they can be great, often touristy locations with vendors or attached to malls

exactly, and then anti-bike folks will complain about how no one is using it and that it was too expensive and it will be held up as evidence against future bike and ped friendly infrastructure

not suggesting north main should be closed to cars (though MPH should certainly be lowered). there is an urgent need for safe routes for non-car traffic through this area and sending bikers up onto an expensive and less-useful path is a bad plan. there are many better at-grade alternatives
