most of the incentives in tennis decision making are fundamentally designed to benefit the tours and tournaments at the expense of the players and the fans. but these ridiculous two week masters, where attendees have to buy twice as many tickets to see the same amount of tennis, seem a step too far

and to add insult to injury one of the men’s matches is zverev, a terrible man-child whose existence i prefer to ignore

just turned on the tennis and was alarmed to learn that the canada open only had TWO (!!!!!!) singles matches at each event today?? they lenghethened the season, at great expense to the players, for *this*??

would love to see it! could be incorporated into something similar to the on-grade option from the phase 1 document

interesting, how would the right of way work for vehicles crossing the cycle track?

didn’t see it, how did coco play? would love to see mboko do a lot in the sport, she seems like a great vibe and the minimal highlights i’ve seen have been πŸ‘€πŸ‘€

wow!!! at matthaei? i bird there a lot and have always hoped to see them but no luck so far. i did get a beaver sighting earlier this year, though, which was a good consolation prize

i think a lot of people would benefit from better bike and pedestrian access here, not just condo owners!!

there are good uses for cool-looking bridges like this, just not in this setting and not when a main purpose is to safely and efficiently move bikes. but many dense cities in asia have these kinds of pedestrian bridges and they can be great, often touristy locations with vendors or attached to malls

02.08.2025 19:33 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

exactly, and then anti-bike folks will complain about how no one is using it and that it was too expensive and it will be held up as evidence against future bike and ped friendly infrastructure

luckily @damnarbor.bsky.social has done quite a bit of this! whole thing worth reading, alternatives closer to the bottom of the post. author gave a public comment about this on monday as well

not suggesting north main should be closed to cars (though MPH should certainly be lowered). there is an urgent need for safe routes for non-car traffic through this area and sending bikers up onto an expensive and less-useful path is a bad plan. there are many better at-grade alternatives

i mean look at thisβ€”you have to bike up a ramp to a tall elevated path, navigate a twisty bridge, take a shape 90 degree turn followed by an even sharper 180 degree turn, followed by the existing 90 degree turn under the argo tunnel. why!!!! when bike lanes exist!?! #a2council

Treeline trail bridge proposed in Ann Arbor aims for β€˜beauty and a wow factor’ See what a β€˜gateway bridge’ for the Treeline trail in Ann Arbor could look like.

seems like a bad use of resources in a city that is desperately in need of safe ped/bike infrastructure at street level. completely car-brained to spend $10s of millions to force pedestrians up staircases and long ramps for the explicit purpose preserving n main as a highway #a2council

i think about this every time i’m on jackson. that road is incredibly dangerous for cyclists. it is completely insane to put an unprotected bike lane on a road where people often drive 60+ miles per hour

wasn't alan haber, who keeps getting quoted in these articles, booted from LGC leadership because he got caught smoking pot on zoom during an official gov't meeting while repping LGC and bc he sent a series of emails denying the holocaust to AA city officials? seems like important context #a2council

i hadn't seen this proposal before this week and i found it very clarifying. it is completely delusional and almost entirely unrelated to the ostensible goal of turning a parking lot into a park. it is deeply unserious, and frankly kind of alarmingly so

that would seem to offer at least one possible explanation for this rendering, however

i’ve heard of a tomβ€”perhaps he is the rumored tom of the Myspace Commons. most is unknown, but some is clear: tom Posts Too Much. he has violated the Poster’s Manifesto and i fear for his future On Line

still can’t believe mayor taylor bulldozed Going to the Sun Road all for a developer handout. who is getting paid behind this??? the voters chose Glacier National Park for the library lot. and you’re telling me it’s just a parking lot? we need real leadership in AA, not big money handouts

this person was anti A and B in the way many of the antis are, which is to say vaguely in favor of the exact kind of public community space A and B would provide, except it’s not the bizarre pseudo-gov’t parking lot fiefdom their weirdly zealous friends wanted ten years ago

locals call it The Bounty of Unknowables, and they worship at its alter while holding hands and chanting the traditional creed: β€œBetter things are not possible,” they cry in unison, their song echoing into the clouds above their R1 zoning designation

a screenshot of a nextdoor post. the post text is titled β€œpreserving park land” and then the summary of the text ends. the image is a fever dream with strange buildings hovering over a plaza full of hallucinated people walking amongst strange other-worldly fountains and such. the actual reality of the location is a parking lot that has been a parking lot since the 1940s, and has no actual people on it basically ever.

i know everyone who follows #a2council is sick of A and B, and i am sorry but this post from one of the dug-in LCG nextdoor warriors is notable. it is sending me into galaxies unknown. how do i survive in a future in which this doesn’t come to fruition
