Because gf flours don’t have long enough shelf life, commercial gf products have to add more junk and more sugar to cover up the taste. I can’t get past the taste of xanthan gum. and

It must be Ceylon cinnamon though. I have hypersensitive taste buds and Cassia cinnamon tastes awful to me.

I’m gf too. Bread that tastes good in the AM is difficult but not impossible.

God I wish we had access to doctors who understood autism. But my offspring and I are adults on Medicaid and there aren’t any doctors who do.

I had a home gluten free bakery for a time. I wailed in silent despair when potential customers got irate that I wasn’t using GMO-free baking soda. Baking soda has no genetics(G) nor is it organic (O). I was/am a great GF baker, but crap at marketing.

I pay out of pocket for most of my durable medical equipment. DME long-term rentals is bs. Owning it means I can modify it. I belong to a makerspace. I plan to build my future power wheelchair, so I will be able to modify and repair.

I wanted to like Disability Pride month, but it feels like another month of more shallow empty gestures that don't actually do anything for the people they're supposed to be uplifting. Instead I'm going to celebrate by throwing some axes this weekend in Maine (SCA event).

I'm 58. I think it gets better over time, but I don't think it ever fully goes away. Self parenting & radical acceptance are the tools I use to deal with it.

I used to volunteer at larger conventions. Schedules are mostly firmed up this close to con, but you might get lucky. You should send them a short professional email saying what you can offer them, what your qualifications are, & past experience as a panelist.

Where we came from, back in Arizona, wellness checks could get queer folks, BIPOC folks, disabled folks arrested or killed. It happened to people we knew. It happened to several autistic friends or friends of friends. I also know the responsibilities of being a mandated reporter.

Myself and my disabled adult offspring are in that category. I have to mask so I can advocate for their needs. I'm not supposed to have any needs of my own....

Is your ability to sweat impacted? If so, look for other ways to know when you need to take a break. Do you have a strategy in place for managing electrolytes? Asthma flares can sneak up on us when we are so used to being tired all the time. I do lung check-ins to try to catch them early.

My dad had a carpet cleaning biz in the early ‘80’s. We went all over Phoenix. When I worked summers w/ him as a teen, it was my job to find the addresses in the Thomas guide & give him directions. I enjoyed being helpful. 🙂
