This rollback would cut the fuel-economy requirements for cars to 34.5 miles per gallon (mpg) on average by 2031, down from the 50.4 mpg target set by former President Biden, cutting vehicle efficiency by nearly a third.

This focuses on rolling back a rule passed under President Biden, which would save Americans $23 billion in fuel costs and avoid burning 70 billion gallons of gasoline through 2050 by requiring higher fuel economy from auto manufacturers.
