What’s funny to me is, I’ve heard every excuse as to why medical staff can’t wear an N95 (the CDC says blah blah), and the most bizarre is that they can’t wear one not professionally fit tested. Yet they don’t mask at all ever in general. Make it make sense.

It is abhorrent that medical staff cite “the CDC” as the reason they will only wear surgical masks and not quality respirators that actually prevent airborne transmission, when even the CDC website states that surgical masks only work for droplets, not airborne pathogens. What a timeline...

This is not a place I would even want to visit knowing how anti-science and backward they are.

Update: The office called me back and said the doctor can only wear a surgical mask because it is the only “standard” one and then lectured me that the CDC says no one has to mask unless they have symptoms. I told her 40% of cases have zero symptoms and she didn’t care.

Absolutely. And the crazy part is that I’ve called about 20 places, and this is the norm. I’ll cancel if they refuse, but really need to get this visit done somewhere. It’s awfull to have to make these choices.

Doctors not masking during an ongoing pandemic because it's no longer mandated is going to be looked at someday, the same way as when they resisted hand washing.

This isn’t optional as it’s an ADA request. It is insane that doctors aren’t masking at all anymore and that I have to explain to medical offices how COVID transmits in the air and why cloth masks are not effective. I hate this timeline.

I was told that I would have to provide them if the doctor is even willing to wear one. They are going to ask and get back to me. Then they told me they sanitize rooms as if COVID isn’t airborne. I am so tired.

I feel like I am living in the actual twilight zone. I have an annual coming up with a Dr that can’t be done virtually and requested that anyone in the room with me wear a Kn95 or higher mask. I was told they will have to ask the doctor to find out “if that’s ok” and that they only have CLOTH MASKS
