This particular client, through fierce self-advocacy and refusal to take “there’s nothing we can do for you, sorry” as an answer, was able to get the meds she needed.

Her mental health symptoms are visibly improved and it hasn’t even been a month. Now she’s in a place where therapy can work.

Another day, another AFAB person in a therapy session struggling with medical gaslighting of a pretty obvious endocrine issue.

Emotional regulation skills are super helpful, but they won't cure PMDD or perimenopausal rage/panic/dispair/executive dysfunction.

AFAB bodies get worse care. Still.

Is this a new audio drama that will rip my heart out and stomp on it while also giving me faith in humanity? (I love those, but they're hard to find!)

While I agree that chickens are probably the most abused livestock animal by sheer numbers, and mine are pampered pets who happen to contribute to breakfast/brunch, "all they offer is love" is bullshit

They offer 4am wake up calls, unwanted veterinary medicine lessons, fence testing, and drama 😂

I mean, isn't that normal? All your videos *look* like they're going to be about Abi Thorn being unreasonably attractive, again, and then end up being deep dives into life's hardest questions that usually result in me sliding a little further to the left (and getting a little gayer). Again. 😜

The other shoe dropped. *grumble*

On the plus side, it's almost certainly not due to a cancer relapse.

Down side, I'm 99% sure it's hormonal. And we all know how seriously doctors take hormone disorders in AFAB folks 🙄

PMDD girlies, any advice? My brain needs estrogen it doesn't have 😭

What time period? Stays are an excellent choice for learning to love the inherent violence of sewing — and the fun of tedium if you opt to floss the boning or hand-sew the eyelets. (My first love is historical costuming, and making unnecessary work for myself is my personal brand at this point lol)

Ive not done this exactly, but I’ve patched socks using the pick-up-stitch cast on/stockinette seaming stitch “cast off” method before, when the hole is on the ball of the foot and traditional darning would be awkwardly bulky/feel weird. If you try it and run into trouble, feel free to DM me.

Which means you can pull it out without unraveling the other segments. Then you can pick up cast on and knit in the replacement part.

You’d just knit a sock like normal, except at the boundary between each part (between toe and body, between body and heel, between heel and leg/cuff) you’d cast off, then do a pick-up cast-on to start the next segment. Each one is a separate length of yarn

You’ll know when you’ve become an advanced sewist about the third time you end up fighting god in order to make your own garment/accessory/bedding/furnishing and enjoy the project all the more for it 😂

You must first appease the creature by throwing the ball/stick/frisbee/large ish piece of mulch he brings you 3-10 times. But he will then lay still enough for boops, and likely roll over for belly rubs.

Somehow I ended up with the world’s best dog. Not only does Tiberias keep the chickens safe, fetch like a pro, and charm everyone he meets— he also helps save other puppers by donating blood.

Here he is after another successful donation yesterday, on his way to get a pup cup for his bravery.

Somehow over the last few weeks? years? I forgot that I am, in fact, a white woman with a pit bull and the audacity to match.

It might not last, but for today, I actually feel like a cancer *survivor* — one who isn’t about to let the rich and cowardly take her country or her joy without a fight.

Pretty sure at least some of it was a recurrence of one of the dormant viruses in my body— I’d run out of my antivirals and noticed a major uptick in energy after getting back on them! I’m long overdue a visit to the patio, though. Puppy playdate perhaps?

A half century and change ago, on this day, one of the kindest, most compassionate, curious, clever, resilient, and creative human beings I’ve ever met was born. And somehow I got the incredible gift of getting to call her Mamma. Happy Birthday @taximomnl.bsky.social!! I love you oodles of noodles ❤️

Look... I'm not saying JD Vance was directly involved in the death of Pope Francis. All I'm saying is that I understand how meeting JD Vance could lead someone to lose the will to live.

And the autistic people with high support needs who are unable to work/live/engage independently are ALSO valuable members of our communities!

Nothing about us without us-- and a reminder to my fellow autists who can self advocate, we need to be the voice of our spectrum siblings who can't.

Anyone know how the heck you apply to a master's program (social work and pre-med) without academic references? My BSW was all online and I barely emailed with any of my professors, let alone formed relationships. My last on-campus classes were in 2016 in a different field 😬

Second rec for all things Diana Wynne Jones, especially the Chrestomanci books and Howl’s Moving Castle.

Dealing With Dragons by Patricia C. Wrede is the beginning of a lovely, witty, feminist quartet about a princess who chooses to be kidnapped by a dragon to avoid marrying a dull prince.

I'm sure the #cansky community gets it-- the worst part of relapse anxiety is feeling like you can't really talk to your support people about it, because you know they're scared of you relapsing too, and you're not even sure what would make you feel better besides a negative PET scan and labs.

a man from schitt 's creek says he 's feeling this like deep aching sense of dread Alt: David Rose from Schitt's Creek says "I'm feeling this, like, deep aching sense of dread" with accompanying hand motion.

Sleeping 14+ hours/day lately, with maybe 2-4 "working" brain hours. What do we think?

a) my stimulants got swapped for sugar pills
b) the #cancer, back for round 3
c) my thyroid getting worse
d) my #narcolepsy getting worse (is that a thing?)
e) my brain is trying to protect me from the horrors
