Last year in #PA08, we saw Democratic incumbent Matt Cartwright lose re-election to Republican Rob Bresnahan by about two points.

This NEPA district has been trending to the right in the Trump era and Trump winning this district by 8 was probably enough to cost Cartwright.

Something I should mention - Allegheny is a big one, but some other counties that have also put in the work are Westmoreland, Butler, Sullivan, Cumberland, etc - Westmoreland in particular. Thanks to those who did the work in those red rural areas and helped the ticket ❤️

The map shows a slight change in coalition in Allegheny. Harris was able to flip Shaler, Sewickley Hills, and Bethel Park, but lost Marshall + fell below 40% in Jefferson Hills.
Otherwise, Harris seems to have matched Biden's numbers or do slightly below them elsewhere. Also included are PGH Wards.

But, ok, why am I mentioning this?
Data from Run For Something, a progressive candidate recruitment org, has shown that if you run candidates in local offices in any given election, you are likely to get somewhere between 0.4 - 2.3 points more than if you didn't - enough to tip the election.

The local bench of incumbent state legislators was also very strong too - Arvind Venkat, Mandy Steele in particular. Venkat, Steele, (and Inglis) ran well ahead of the top of the ticket in their respective races.
