Right there with you. Dropped coffee maker basket into trash as I popped the spring off the bottom & broke the piece it attaches to. Luckily had time for (better) french press coffee, but errand for new coffee maker later today was not originally on my todo list 🙄

If you install lights backwards the connector for the next string of lights is a “female plug” & would mean that’s at the bottom of the tree near the house plug. I suspect putting something like this in a socket is akin to sticking a fork in the socket—nowhere for the current to go to dissipate.

And one more thing—the “tough love” argument to just be harsh and fail them is not tough love if that’s all there is. It’s just saying “my unyielding expectations are more important than your needs” and trust me folks—that isn’t working. They seem to be in freeze mode, which is a trauma response.

We have to find solutions. We have to help them find solutions. I just don’t know what that completely looks like for each student.

An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

Yes. But I have maybe had a breakthrough this semester w/ my students. Their anxiety is through the roof w/ reading & writing, so I’m holding hands (proverbially). They need it. Most are dealing with soooooo much the world has thrown at them plus the lack of instruction & practice. Plus life.

Gluten free (medical necessity) isn’t ever easy but Thanksgiving is exhausting. There aren’t shortcuts except frozen pie crust& we have to diligently watch extended fam or days of work can get contaminated w/gluten in seconds. Husband has devoted decade to learning chef level gf just for me—tho so…❤️
