The last time we had a good size paper wasp nest some friendly bumblebees conducted a raid and took it over so I was going to leave it alone for the bees I’ve been collecting on the hyssop but apparently my pollinator offerings have been inadequate

Just got stung in the head repeatedly by some wasps who have claimed one of my yarn stock tanks as part of their territory. Yelling at them about OSHA has accomplished nothing.

I’ve only ever happily biked as primary transportation in places where biking was treated as its own thing and had real paths. I am not and will never take a bike at the speeds and hazard level of being an alternative car.

I dunno if the terrible birding pics account made it over here but this sandhill crane was feeling very smug about “tricking” me. I definitely followed it half a mile down the road away from its chick and partner because I was so
thoroughly fooled into thinking it could only meander and flap.

Nope, just by the house! We’ve had geese and swans nesting every spring but this is the first time I’ve spotted cranes joining the party.

When I left the house this morning I didn’t think anything would be more fun than seeing a baby sandhill crane walking with its parents. Who knew the entertainment had just begun.

My grandma used to complain every time she got stuck on a trail behind a GH and would grumble endlessly about its unaesthetic square butt.😂
