2. that know them on the internet means they are famous

3. famous people are rich

4. therefore because I know of this person on the internet, they are rich

folks, it simply does not work that way

It's those people -- the ones closest to me, the ones I understand best -- who are most repulsive to me at the moment. None of them will ever suffer a single second for it, none will ever be troubled by doubts. Flattering billionaires is never a bad bet in the US. But they are bad & should feel bad.

I have enough rage & contempt to go around, believe me, but I think we should set aside special, extra contempt for the pundits. They knew this story flatters the priors of billionaires & could thus get them attention & money & fame. There are the overt hucksters exploiting this, of course ...
