My experience is that it’s better than this but that’s probably extremely variable depending on language and task. I’m generally asking for straightforward single purpose project components, not a whole complex thing.

From my personal experience it’s not bad for roughing in a simple idea to see if it’s anything. It’s also not bad for drafting straightforward functions, and sometimes you can feed it a block of code and it can suss out why a specific error is happening. It’s useful but not transformative.

As long as they don’t start sending you unsolicited nudes

Yes

This isn’t real, FWIW.

I am reasonably certain this is not real.

β€œRoss Douthat did something gross.”

β€œYes, we know, that is what they employ him for.”

The Times is nobody’s paper right now - the right still dislikes it for legacy reasons and because the news side still often does journalism, and most critically minded people on the center or left don’t consider the opinion section β€œtheirs” in any meaningful sense.

Their editorial page as a whole is at *best* center-right.

He’s the right’s problem just like Carlson.

Ross Douthat is neither a centrist or a leftist so why would we react to that?

And?

Okay but only if he’s played by Sean Connery

Jim Chanos is welcome to come over here.

No one has yet given a satisfactory answer to how ICE continues to operate in a 'shut down', given that, far from being essential workers, they are unneeded by anyone at any time

He is also in full command of the party base, a vindictive bastard, the sitting president, and the guy whose boots they have been enthusiastically licking for nine years. Not saying it can’t happen, but I’ll believe it when I see it.

β€œIf John Thune and his leadership team had just done what the president said we should do we wouldn’t be in this mess”, &etc

I hear you but I also question the assessment that it’s not easier to defenestrate John Thune than Donald Trump.

I can see how it got there because I had β€œat hand” rather than β€œin contention” at one point and probably missed a space after the period, but also generating the link and keeping it when the triggering text isn’t in the final post is madness behavior.

Bluesky what the fuck is this link

I’m not entirely sure that the president is the whole problem here, because he doesn’t really give a fuck about the issues in contention. Like, if you locked Trump, Schumer, and Jeffries in a room with a stack of pizzas and no staff for an afternoon, you’d probably get a deal.

I would assume that by then you start to see serious attrition among notionally vital employees who can’t afford to keep working without pay.

Nah. If there are second order effects on institutions that matter to real people we can solve it at that level without touching the AI companies.

People are supposed to get hurt when they misallocate capital, the one exception is depository institutions because they have demand deposits in them.

Good news, they can save by switching all of their Thanksgiving purchases to Great Value and not flying because there are no flights anyway.

Sitting here in a midwestern diner if any NYT or WaPo reporters want to chat about how Republicans need to moderate and reconnect with the concerns of everyday Americans.

As someone pointed out in the comments on the OP, in theory these markets aren't actually on the hook for the payout - for every share sold for one prediction, someone bought a share of the opposite. Which isn't to say they couldn't have malign motives here, just not that specific one.

So what I’m hearing is that a bunch of existing New Yorkers will have a chance at aligning their housing with their needs and a bunch of non-New Yorkers will have a chance to move into the city. Sounds great!
