I bought the Denver post on a whim and tbh itโ€™s been great. Physical medium is at the pace and scale that feels informative and not attention seeking. Also have the local app, and on iOS I set it up so I get two notifications a day (morning/evening)

Your site is ideal. Web design, especially for text focused content peaked in the 90s and itโ€™s all been downhill since. It crushes accessibility metrics, itโ€™s clear and serves its purpose.

Yeah I didnโ€™t realize it existed either, I had been using an alternative app on safari called block bear. But just searched and saw itโ€™s newly added to the App Store.

The issue is iOS forces WebKit. So either I use Firefox focus (pretty good add screening as is) or safari with ublock extension on.

Thereโ€™s also other iOS system wide tools like ad guard and NextDNS that can improve ads and other shenanigans.

Actually I spoke too soon. Just realized ublock lite is available as an app for iOS. Probably wonโ€™t do much to deal with site side scripts (havenโ€™t investigated closely) but since all browsers on iOS are safari under the hood, might be able to play with it to improve mobile on iOS.

It does on android Firefox. iOS youโ€™re kinda SOL. But web pages suck generally on mobile imo.

Yeahโ€ฆ itโ€™s hard to be a degenerate these days and get the high quality brain rot free of worse brain rot.

But we do what we must to survive. Also I havenโ€™t really had any issues switching to Firefox and after some tinkering I like it better and I donโ€™t give Google any more data. Win win

You can play with the settings, and it seem to do a good job at killing popups in general. Including the constant cookie request.

Between ublock and privacy badger, my internet is far saner. But if youโ€™re on chrome they neutered ublock so Iโ€™m a Firefox dingus now.

Not to mention there was a whole counter thread of calling civil rights activists communities and a complete propaganda campaign in southern news papers.

An inordinate amount. From my recollection public opinion didnโ€™t actually move until the early 60s when civil rights finally broke into the top issues on Americans minds.

In hindsight Iโ€™ll admit it might have been just good pedagogy, asking the questions kids may be too afraid to ask, but Iโ€™d bet money it was sincere.

I once got in trouble in health class because our male health/gym teacher asked a sex educator that came in to give a sexual health talk to our class โ€œif a girl has sex with two guys can the baby belong to both dadsโ€ and I impulsively said โ€œHow did they let you get a teaching certificate?โ€

But in the way we know ticketing and post hoc enforcement isnโ€™t a valid policy solution for speeding motorists, Iโ€™m not sure it solves that issue here either.

This seems like a design/company solution oriented problem, not enforcement.

Iโ€™m curious what kind of policies you think could actually be effective in stopping this behavior?

Iโ€™m with you, I do think improper use of micro mobility options on predominantly sidewalks can be a safety and optics issue for better streets.

Also my issue here isnโ€™t with regenerative farming, we should have switched decades ago.

But youโ€™re dismissing an idea that does have a lot of promise before we have any real data.

The study you posted assumes prototype reactors and pharmaceutical grade, those are not production scale

If youโ€™re buying your animal proteins from regenerative farmers something tells me youโ€™re not going to be encountering it because lab grown meat will likely be the lowest economic rung of meat production. The McDonaldโ€™s and Wendyโ€™s of the world.

Sure and you donโ€™t have to, but the US consumes 4x the rest of the global average of beef alone, and the rest of the world is catching up. Animal agriculture is limited by the land it takes to grow it. If weโ€™re going to make animal protein available to everyone we need ways to scale it.

Yes and in market economies people produce what people will pay for. Either we cudgel farmers into growing regenerative with laws, we find economic models that make it better for the farmer to do. The later Iโ€™m not a fan of, the former is few and far between. Land costs are thing.
