When we first meet Kali, she's carrying a lot of hurt and anger from her first mom's choices. After the initial crisis of the story, Kaliana's anger has a new focus. She's on a rescue mission. If she can just convince her sister to get on board, there's a chance she'll get what she wants. #PlotTober

I've got 5 MCs planned. This group is inspired by the Animorphs, so the plan right now is that each will have their own POV short story in a series. My first POV MC, Kali, is like the sarcastic Marco of the group; their style and anger issues are inspired by Gideon in Gideon the Ninth.

Dimension 20's Cloudward, Ho! campaign influences the vibe of wonder and discovery I want to bring to the story. For the richness and influence of the world's magical and non-magical environments, I'm inspired by the Jasmine Thrown by Tasha Suri. Hopefully some of this will translate to reality!

Media: For those themes above, I'd cite Braiding Sweetgrass, A Psalm for the Wild Built by Becky Chambers, and music by Iniko. I'm also heavily influenced by the stories coming out of Palestine, echoed by indigenous peoples all over the world with memories longer than those of our world leaders.

The most direct inspiration for my story and the world I want to build is the Temeraire series by Naomi Novik. The diversity of her dragons and their nuanced relationships with humans and the environment around them are nothing short of magic themselves. I'll put other examples below.

Bella's tongue is out and her eyes are wide. seems like she's preparing for a treat, and Hank is used to the arrangement.

This is Bella and Hank. They have a commensal relationship in which Bella benefits and Hank neither benefits nor is harmed. 13/10 for both
