That's not at all what judges are actually doing. They're writing sharp rulings saying "Hey SCOTUS, you aren't telling us why you're doing anything, so screw it, we're going to use our best judgment: Trump loses again."

Judges don't have their own armies, BTW. What they do is write rulings.

I think a lot of the super-brutality ICE is doing has the same goal: Create violent we've-got-all-the-power we-destroy-you video clips. It's what Trump revels in, and DHS posts on social media. And they use it to promote further escalation "to suppress violent protests."

That's not the rationale they've used in Portland. It's Trump's claim (based on fake Fox video) that the whole city is a violent chaotic out-of-control war zone. The judge found that claim was "simply untethered to the facts."

They may be saying "J. has no power to stop us." But what they're doing is doing a sneaky end-run around the order, instead of outright defying it.

I trust the judge will not be amused by obvious game-playing.

Also: It's well-documented that when cops have bodycams or know they're being recorded, they scream lies to create more plausible faux narratives. "Stop hitting me!" (No one is hitting them.) "Drop that gun!" (There is no gun, never was a gun.)

Being at war has never blocked US elections before. He thinks that because it does in Ukraine, under different laws, it also would here.

And the smarter fascist-wannabes around him are working on the plans to seize total control long before 2028 so what the Constitution says no longer matters.
