It's impossible for me to look at this thread & not conclude that there is something fundamentally broken with the anglophone news media.

HOW IS THIS NOT NEWSWORTHY?!? 😱

🧡 Just finished reading Upgrading Democracy by @pollycurtis.bsky.social at @demos-uk.bsky.social .
It’s a sharp, hopeful intervention in the face of democratic breakdown, and it aligns in profound ways with the epistemic collapse I’ve been tracking in my own work.

🚨 Carbon dioxide (COβ‚‚) levels set a new monthly *record high* in May 2025 - 430.51 ppm (seasonal maximum)

This is the second largest May-May increase in this dataset (3.6 ppm higher than 2024). This is not good... 🫣

Confirmed: the May average of atmospheric CO2 at Mauna Loa was 430.5 ppm, first time above 430 ppm in 15 million years, and a big jump from a year ago, again: +3.6 ppm!

Overall, we're still speeding in the wrong direction.

We’re pissed because our pluralist society has fought for centuries to be free of β€œdoose” (boxes); and the richness of this place comes from the interlocking cultural streams that create the mengelmoes. Now 49/59 (?) people want their doose to be THE box. No man that’s not lekker.

19.05.2025 18:40 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

But we are such a β€œmengelmoes” (mixed stew) in SA, both DNA mix & cultural, that β€œAfrikaner” is a broad brush open to multiple interpretations. Much of it very progressive, impossible to box within a β€œrace”, or a profession such as farmer (β€œBoer”), or music/dance/humour/literature/religion.

Those behind the National Party (came into power in 1948) & Broederbond (brother fraternity) sought to fence off Afrikaans as solely β€œowned” by conservative, Christian, white’s as their mother tongue & political counter to the British colony. And this gave rise to the notion of β€œAfrikaner”.

19.05.2025 18:40 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yep. Complicated & contested. About 8 million people speak Afrikaans as their 1st language, of which about 40% can be considered β€œwhite”. Afrikaans was a β€œkitchen Dutch” mixed with some Malay and spoken by slaves/servants in the Cape colony. Originally it was written in Arabic script.

CO2 emissions from China are down 1.6% for Q1 2025 and 1% for the past 12 months. The most recent peak in CO2 emissions from China was back in March 2024. Emissions are dropping because despite continuing to build out fossil fuels, renewable capacity and generation has increased in China and many sectors of their economy now have emissions that are flat or dropping.

Back here in SA we’re particularly interested in how β€œAfrikaner” was defined (given who speaks Afrikaans), what β€œfarms” these persons came from, and just a little pissed at the maligning of our country.

NEW from me: China's CO2 emissions fell ~1.6% in the first quarter and have now been flat or down for more than a year. This is the first time on record that emissions are falling due to clean energy growth, not slow power demand.

Good morning with good news: Wind & solar set two new global records in March 2025.

1. W&S generated 18.86% of world's electricity, a record high share!

2. W&S generation set a monthly record of 471 TWh in March 2025!

That's up ~18% since March 2024 and ~145% since March 2019.

It’s a big ask. So why would anyone think it has merit?

To hold onto the conspiracy means abandoning physics and the practicalities of dispensing aerosols.

It also means believing large scale operations can be kept secret & that mind altering drugs exist and can be dosed from high up. E.g. As opposed to placing them in drinking water.

14.05.2025 16:48 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

And what operational capacity would be required and how to fund and keep such secret?

How do you hide these planes & airports?

14.05.2025 16:48 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

And how would they work? As in how would you regulate dosage?

How would you get everyone to react in the same way?

Think about releasing paracetamol at 1000m above the ground on the 01 Jan.

Would it treat everyone’s hangover?

14.05.2025 16:48 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Mood/mind altering drugs dispensed as chemtrails would need to be in what volumes at what height?

But what drugs would do the trick? They’d have to be in sufficient quantities and small enough and highly efficient to do the job. And what chemical impact would they have?

14.05.2025 16:48 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

None of these aerosol dispensing tech are the same as commercial airplanes (transporting millions daily) that when at high enough altitudes (typically they fly at 10 000m) create white condensed vapour trails from the jet engines pushing warm vapour into dry & cold atmospheres.

14.05.2025 16:48 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Each requires different plane designs to suit very different flying conditions.

For SUI to be effective requires a large scale operation with multiple planes & airports. Seeding & dusting can be single plane operations.
