A protest has clear demands and uses civil disobedience and disruption to achieve them whereas your pep rally had no demands and was supported by establishment democrats like Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi.

Absolutely 💯, I am not knocking people for attending, but they have deliberately kicked out pro Palestine protesters. Their message is no kings, paid for by a bunch of oligarchs. If it’s endorsed by George Conway, Bill Kristol, susan rice, and Hillary its just a dem party operation.

The ONLY people who you can tax and NOT hurt the economy are the richest.

Because they are the only ones hoarding money and not spending it.

The two Israelis killed today were killed when their bulldozer hit an unexploded bomb, which had been dropped by Israel.

The only side that killed, 44 people today, was Israel.

no shade on anyone for whom a no kings march was their first experience going to a protest but please recognize that because you had a good interaction with police does not negate the reality of police violence, which is fundamentally the same as ice violence

every time there's one of these huge marches people who haven't faced police violence will fall all over themselves to praise cops for how good they were at keeping the peace and pls understand those cops only refrained from violence bc there were hundreds of white ppl and their kids in the crowd

you do not, under any circumstances, "gotta hand it to" cops

Mindfulness. Began as a spiritual framework, but capitalism has turned it into something a person does so they can perform more labor, and instructing employees is a hollow demonstration of caring for their well-being.

There is a legit woo-to-fascist pipeline, and I'm convinced that it's founded in colonialism and capitalism. So, white people steal elements of culture they find "exotic", isolate them from their context, and refashion them in service of American capitalism.

Let's take sage smudging as an example: white people are overharvesting sage that indigenous people forage, without regard to traditional harvesting practices that take small amounts of leaves from many plants to maintain their health. The practice is commodified to be sold.

What we saw today with “No Kings” was a rally, not a protest. Keep in mind that rally’s often help folks feel good about a particular message - and while the message is something, protest are meant to cause disruption.

It’s about a demand/want for something to change.

I thought about the lack of mask-wearing this morning. In a few weeks, they will discover that they are superspreaders at a time when healthcare is shitty and some hospitals are closing. Hopefully, I won't be sitting on there bus next top them.

I've never spiritually recovered from seeing my union post a conference picture in 2021 without masks. It is a wound that won't heal. It would have sent such a strong labour message of safety and solidarity if they were masked but instead they undermined the movement.
