agree to disagree i guess, i think this underestimates how visciously many parents are absolutely against sex ed. i think it used to be an issue only right wing politicians cared about and over the years has trickled down to their voters. we shouldnt let parents opt for worse education for their kid

admitting that children need not learn about sex due to sensitivity of the parents is a losing argument because it results in exactly the situation we're in now. we are biology and life sciences and social sciences rolled into one and should be part of a curriculum aimed at creating healthy adults

i dont think censorship in games necessarily or even commonly refers to "waifus censored by feminists" anywhere except weirdo right wing circles

people rallying against the payment processors for the steam/itch stuff is great to see because one cause that unites nearly all right wing thought is being AGAINST sexual self expression (self and expression being equally important factors) and pornography that is safe and legal.

and account for the fact that they're both ANTI sex depicted in movies but PRO sexualization in movies, games, and ads. it's really a very confusing time to be a normal person

on pornography alone you have to be able to thread your way through reactionary memes about gooners, not fall for anti porn rhetorical tricks (moral arguments about protecting women and made up medical arguments like porn addiction)

it's a difficult time to talk about sex because the american right very quickly became the source of basically every major cultural current about sex. without being careful you can easily encounter and utilize right wing core concepts, and they often manufacture both mainstream 'sides' of an issue

negativity sold much better when doofuses on youtube were fully 100% off the radar of Disney or anyone who matters, they could say whatever they wanted and chose to be inflammatory to get clicks. not its muich more lucrative to never upset anyone and also get attention from marvel

one thing that happened is that companies that control IPs realized how extremely easy and cheap it is to give random content creators a tiny bit of access or even just attention. find the right dupe who will always be happy and generate huge amounts of thought-free positivity

people talk about how negativity sells and gets clicks and it is true but more rarely people talk about how relentless, forced positivity also sells and i think is like the main mode of "content culture" of the past 5-10 years. i feel trapped in a landscape of relentlessly positive fandom culture
