All of these stories about how Republicans are "uneasy" about troops in American cities. Well, you control Congress, do something and restrain his power.

Yes, that repeating time bit is really weird and kind of annoying. I also like the concept of Alice collecting powers, though. It's too bad they squandered her character in the next one.

Lessons from a Red Scare The American people are capable of turning the tide against repression.

New in PN: Lessons from a Red Scare

"As Emma Goldman hoped, and Louis Post later demonstrated, the American people are capable of turning the tide against repression β€” even if that effort feels hopeless in the moment."

I'm re-reading You Can't Go Home Again and just finished the ch. where George Webber visits 1930s Germany.

"Under these conditions, the last remnants of the German spirit managed to survive only as drowning men survive-by clutching at any spar that floated free from the wreckage of their ship."

Yes! I'm all for more Gothic horror. Maybe if del Toro's Frankenstein does well, we'll get more of it. We'll see.

It's been a LONG time since I've watched Branagh's adaptation from the 90s. It might be a good time to revisit it.

I always loved the fact that Mary Shelley's Frankenstein begins and ends in the Arctic and based on this trailer and the interviews Guillermo del Toro has given, I think this may be one of the most faithful adaptations we've seen.

With Good Boy coming to theaters on Friday, I thought I'd repost my review from SXSW. I absolutely loved this movie. This film manages to actually do something new with the haunted house subgenre. And Indy gives quite a performance!

Nearly every performance in Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another is fantastic. That said, the issue of political violence hits so close to home right now that I don't know when I can watch this one again. Still, I still really enjoyed it.

Shelby Oaks – Fantastic Fest 2025 Fantastic Fest 2025 - Chris Stuckmann spent years building a loyal fanbase on YouTube as a horror critic. Because of this, his feature debut, Shelby Oaks, is one of the buzziest films of spooky season...

Chris Stuckmann's Shelby Oaks has some downright creepy and unsettling scenes, but as a whole, the film is a bit of a misfire for me, namely cause of the last act. Here's my review out of #FantasticFest. The NEON release hits theaters next month.
