Stressful day. Unwinding by finally starting work (ha) & enjoying this. It's Musk Ravageur's almost-as-hot-but-not-quite brother. Today, I get bergamot, lapsang souchang, mate, dry grass, carrot seeds, and powder. Maybe it's better in the heat. #fragrancesky #perfumesky

HOLIDAYS (Mancera)

She's far cooler than I could ever be, but she barely notices that she's turning heads at the beach while on holiday.

Sunblock, coconut, tiare, the dregs of an Orange Julius, salty sea, tuberose, and sweet cardboard notes.

Yeah. It was the 1st full bottle I got when I got back into fragrances and before expanding my horizons to learn there's better out there. It's still amazing but not really me.

GHOST IN THE SHELL (ELDO)

I don't always like this one, but it works today. It's mainly creamy, powdery, floral, and synthetic (but in a good way). I keep trying to remember the anime by the same name, but I think I fell asleep watching it another life in my 20s. #fragrancesky #perfumesky

Oh, I've certainly tried a lot of Pledge-scented fragrances. Like the new version of Devotion. Blech.

White florals are hit or miss for me, as is jasmine. I just hope someone puts some in a swap box soon so I can immediately pass it on if I hate it.

So many of them go screechy on my skin with a few exceptions. One being the one I'm wearing today - Dirty Peach- where the grapefruit intensifies the peach note.

Oh, that sounds nice.

I can't decide if this would be a love or hate for me. Scared to try it.

DIRTY PEACH (Heretic)

This is biting into a fuzzy peach on a sweltering hot summer day and having juice drip down your elbows.

I kept craving it until I used up my sample. Sometimes, the highest rated aren't the ones that end up the most beloved.

The best was THE NAMES, which follows a child through 3 possible life scenarios based on the life events that are caused by his mom giving him a different name in each.

LONG LOST is a kid's book, but it features a library that's also a haunted mansion. Library goals.

Lemon peels, freshly-cut grass, woody vetiver, and apple peels (on my left wrist only) are the notes I get with this fragrance. It's among the top vetivers I've experienced, but I'm not often in a vetiver mood. Unisex skewing masculine. Good longevity.

COEUR NOIR (Heretic)

I feel like this is made for much cooler weather. It's like rosewood soaked in water until it becomes brackish and ripe with tannins. Rosy, balsamic, and woody. Witchy. Better mixed with Nosferatu for now. Will try again in cooler weather.

I tried it with Vaseline + multiple sprays to get it to stay on my skin, and I'm not a fan. It's a bit too old fashioned in the wrong direction and has a yucky salival musk up close. Scrub-a-dub-dub. Blech.

FLORGASM
Nice but short-lived and forgetable. I can barely remember what it's actually like because it lasts less than 5 minutes. Draw the metaphors as you may for this Heretic scent. Pleasant yellow florals with a hint of citrus.

DIRTY HINOKI (Heretic)

This is an evergreen lover's dream: evergreen needles, wood, and resins w/ a hint of sweetness. The only negative is that it doesn't stick on my skin longer than an hour w/o a base of Vaseline. It would be a must-have w/ more longevity and projection. #fragrancesky

My Heretic obsession continues.

This is a clean, fresh, herbal, citrus spa scent. Bergamot, lime, and lemon verbena dominate with a bit of a soap bubbles essence. Lovely, peaceful, & perfect for a hot day.

This was a 10/10 in winter, but in the summer, the flower factory is making grapey orange blossoms and rose bath bombs and cleaning up after itself with 1980s cheap laundry detergent. Meh.

How many sprays does it take to actually smell this one? 9. But it's always lovely. Powdery juniper citrus with a hint of florals.

Reminds me of '80s Breck shampoo and Gypsy Water at the same time.

I'm still thinking about how my ESL student from 25 years ago is sending her teen to study English in the Philippines instead of the U.S. I'd certainly not send a teen here right now, but it's still sobering.

Maybe your rule needs some subrules. Like I have a rule to only buy larger sizes when I use up a sample, but that rule goes out the window if it's discontinued, hard to get at the size I want, or I find a really good deal (like $15 on a full bottle).

Yeah. I don't care for L'Eau Papier a whole lot either. I tend to only take out my sample when I hear enough people raving about it to make me remember it exists. And then I'm like "meh."
