A Barred Eagle Owl perched on a branch in a tropical forest. Its wings and back are mottled dark brown. Its front is white with brown spots from the feet to two-thirds up its body, where it fades into brown with dark brown spots. It has large, dark ear tufts, a pale grey-brown face and large, dark eyes. The beak is mostly yellow with a pink bit right at the top, and the black nostril holes make it look like a smaller birds face poking out of the owl's face feathers.

I've been dealing with absolute morons all day today, so this evening's #AnOwlADay is the wisest-looking bird I could find! The Barred Eagle Owl would seem at home in any library, and if you look closely, it also appears to have a smaller bird hiding in the middle of its face!
