REFORM UK Doge' unit fails to carry out audits Reform UK's so-called "Doge" unit has carried out no audit work in the councils it won control of nearly six months ago. The party vowed swingeing efficiency cuts to council budgets, in the mould of Elon Musk's US Department of Government Efficiency, after gaining control of nine local authorities across England in May. Deputy party leader Richard Tice told the Financial Times it was never the "intention to audit them, because audits are expensive".

Hey… but come on… audits - where you find out what your budgets are, what money is being spent and how much you have left - are expensive… and only something proper grownups do.

I’ve never had a reaction, but it did hurt this year (when it was done & a couple of days afterwards) which is new.

It has been a real struggle getting the 2 staff I have in breakfast club currently. Additional hours, facilities, costs, space… it’s another thing to worry about, much as I appreciate the intent.
