Also, just looking at the people in the picture, how weird is it that our secretary of defense doesn't think our attorney general should have the right to vote?

Federalizing some of the very police officers you sent your followers to assault and batter just a few years ago is some pretty amazing chutzpah.

Randy Fine suggests atomic bombs for Gaza after killings in D.C. Florida congressman Randy Fine referenced the atomic bombs dropped on Japan when asked about killings of Israelis in D.C., suggesting the same for Gaza.

It's so exciting watching the rest of the country get introduced to the Randy Fine we've known and loved in the Florida Legislature. Truly the sort of sober-minded, judicious lawmaker we need. www.sun-sentinel.com/2025/05/22/r...

DeSantis signs a bill making Florida the 2nd state to ban fluoride from its water system Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a measure Thursday prohibiting local governments from adding fluoride to their water systems.

A side note to yesterday's news that Gov. DeSantis signed a bill banning fluoride in tap water statewide: According to Florida Oral Health Alliance, Florida ranked 50th in the percentage of children receiving an annual dental visit in 2021.

I know I'm on the wrong side of this, because I agree with the oxford comma but regularly delete it from stories I edit because I am "just following orders."

Real, but I wouldn't read too much into the guy simply posting a piece from the National Catholic Reporter, esp. a guy who has spoken disparagingly in speeches of the "homosexual lifestyle." I don't think the church's outlook on LGBT issues is going to change for good or ill under the new Pope.

Parolin Surges In Papal Betting Odds After Conclave Ends Italy’s Pietro Parolin leads odds on the Polymarket and Kalshi betting platforms, while Luis Antonio Tagle of the Philippines ranks second on both.

Despite 10 years of Catholic school, I'm as lapsed as a Catholic can be, but even I was a little taken aback by a headline on papal betting odds. Like, WWJD? Pretty sure take up a lash and run these guys out of town.

Also shows how awful the state law restricting presidential searches from public records has been for the state. Just a few years ago, those other finalists would never have been able to make a demand that they be the lone known finalist; their initial applications would have been public records.

I cannot emphasize enough how upside down this is relative to the rest of DeSantis' time in office. Previously, our governor has lavishly awarded no-bid contracts, laughed off ethics laws and taunted media reporting on it, all while GOP lawmakers laughed right along with him.
