Also, just looking at the people in the picture, how weird is it that our secretary of defense doesn't think our attorney general should have the right to vote?

It's so exciting watching the rest of the country get introduced to the Randy Fine we've known and loved in the Florida Legislature. Truly the sort of sober-minded, judicious lawmaker we need. www.sun-sentinel.com/2025/05/22/r...

Trump's budget proposal cuts NOAA by 30%. For tomorrow's @sun-sentinel.com Opinion page, here's every living former director of the National Weather Service, covering the years 1988 to 2022, explaining why this is bad and Congress should not do this:

I know I'm on the wrong side of this, because I agree with the oxford comma but regularly delete it from stories I edit because I am "just following orders."

08.05.2025 18:35 β π 255 π 11 π¬ 5 π 0Real, but I wouldn't read too much into the guy simply posting a piece from the National Catholic Reporter, esp. a guy who has spoken disparagingly in speeches of the "homosexual lifestyle." I don't think the church's outlook on LGBT issues is going to change for good or ill under the new Pope.

Also shows how awful the state law restricting presidential searches from public records has been for the state. Just a few years ago, those other finalists would never have been able to make a demand that they be the lone known finalist; their initial applications would have been public records.

So much of what we publish in the @sun-sentinel.com Opinion section is serious and weighty given it's about current events. So it's great to publish a 100-year-old Jewish West Palm Beach resident's recollections of the day he learned he could stop bombing Nazis.

The 100-days benchmark was established almost a century ago in the first term of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who worked with Congress to project leadership and inspire confidence. Trump has done the opposite on every point.

I cannot emphasize enough how upside down this is relative to the rest of DeSantis' time in office. Previously, our governor has lavishly awarded no-bid contracts, laughed off ethics laws and taunted media reporting on it, all while GOP lawmakers laughed right along with him.
