The billionaire CEO of the third richest company on the planet gives the President an actual block of gold so his company is exempted from US Government tariffs. And the whole thing is broadcast live on TV.

Anyone who can't see what is happening to this country is unsalvageable at this point.

t took six months for a Trump official to be politely forced by a journalist to admit live on air what everyone - including every economist - knows to be true (but which Trump keeps lying about): tariffs are paid in the US by US importers.

What an indictment of our media.

This is plainly gross and horrifying, but it's also just good business. You can buy the most powerful man in the world for like $5,000. Why wouldn't you? When you remove ethics and your own moral compass from the equation, decision making gets incredibly simple.

Our problem is that we have a political class with no experience of how dictatorship starts. They blindly cling to norms and “that’s illegal,” “he can’t do that,” “that’ll never stand up in court,” without realizing each of those responses just allows the dictatorship time and opportunity to form.

CEO pay is up 1,085% since 1978, while typical worker pay is up just 24%. 

Why do we always hear "we can't afford to pay our workers more" but never "we can't afford to pay our CEO more"?
