In Utah, Trump’s Vision for Homelessness Begins to Take Shape State officials promise large-scale involuntary addiction and mental health treatment at Salt Lake City’s edge. Critics see “a prison, or a warehouse.”

BREAKING: Inspired by Trump, Utah moves forward with plan to force homeless people into detention camps.

“It’s what they did in World War II in Japanese detention camps--similar to rounding up Jews or other people Nazis didn’t like.” @jesserbnwtz.bsky.social

We're seeing a massive institutional deportation and state violence apparatus being built and it honestly feels like people dont grasp the sheer scale of it and what already is in place. For every horrific video of masked feds kidnapping people there are so many people pushing paper to help.

Add this to the "everyone is 12" examples.

Wanting to make a show of strength by resuming nuclear testing is exactly how a 12 year old would approach foreign policy

This idea that DOJ had to build a case, slowly & steadily, is just BS. We have audio recordings of Trump's crimes. There was a smoking gun.

This was definitely part of it. That said, the DOJ ultimately was under Garland's leadership at the time, and Garland could have pushed them to make an arrest and have a trial within the first month of Biden's presidency. Evidence of Trump committing crimes was all out there in the open!

Do I have a better idea? Well...I think superstars should use that influence to impact CBA negotiations so that their union, as a whole, gets a larger slice of the revenue split.

A superstar forcing a trade to a short list of destinations of his choosing necessarily entails a bunch of other players being forced to uproot their entire lives, & career paths. It's not player empowerment. It's superstars having the ability to act as another form of management

Anyway, one of my biggest gripes is the pervasive idea that conflates NBA superstar empowerment with player empowerment.

A system where all contracts were just defined as a percentage of the cap would be ideal

He also agreed to cap smoothing, & in doing so, prevented a cap spike akin to what happened under the leadership of LeBron & Chris Paul, when every player who wasn't up for a new contract that summer got screwed (LeBron & Chris Paul were up for new contracts...go figure)

Lots of people get mad at CJ McCollum for agreeing to the new CBA. I'd argue that he did his job quite well in terms of maximizing the amount of basketball related income received by NBAPA members—he got more money for them! He just didn't anticipate the how the system would play out.

30.10.2025 13:16 — 👍 5    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Why did players agree to this, btw? It's because in exchange for it, owners expanded the definition of "basketball related income" in the CBA, meaning that players will now collectively get a substantially larger sum of money to split amongst themselves.

The new system of rules will fully adjust in the next 3 years, so the first problem will eventually work itself out, but they need to raise the god damn threshold for the 2nd apron

30.10.2025 13:07 — 👍 4    🔁 0    💬 2    📌 0

I'm more or less fine with the 2nd apron in principle. My real issue is how there was no transition mechanism built in to accommodate teams who made moves under the previous CBA & got rug pulled. Also, the 2nd apron threshold is waaaay too low.

I have no idea why people like Marcy Wheeler were so determined to defend Garland—a guy who should have never even been considered for the position of AG.
