This Saturday/Sunday ying yang story of Nys is the beauty of cyclocross. It takes so much more than fitness. There’s equal amounts of luck, stoke, confidence and mechanics that play in to a good day. And maybe sometimes that’s lost on youth.

On the bright side, we did a ride in Hawaii, mostly pavement with like 6 miles out and back of potholed, gravel, f-ed up lava field road. We dropped psi going in, and aired up 3-bikes, 6 tires, with the noisy ass e-mini on the way back. Never would’ve done that with a hand pump or co2.

A Case for Listening to Your Body Every morning my freshman year of high school, I’d hop in my friends car, an old Volkswagen beetle with a broken speedometer, to head to cross-country practice.

Listening to your body is a skill.

If we’re constantly checking external feedback (i.e. a GPS watch) it disrupts our experience.

Not just in running, but in life. We can’t outsource all of our decision making. We lose a feel for the thing itself.

I've gotten into the habit of hitting the lap button my Garmin when I see instances of particularly bad driving. Then I just have a list of timestamps in my Strava entry I can look up. Pro-tip.
