This is by far the best footage I got with this camcorder, with perfect deinterlacing to 60P. I'm also quite impressed with the audio recorded by the built-in stereo mic.

The resulting footage looks the same as the original MPEG2 footage but takes almost half the storage space. Then I load the clips, now in an MKV container, into Kdenlive and edit. The last step is a light upscale to 1440x960 to ensure that YouTube displays the video in 60 FPS.

I've decided to modify my deinterlacing workflow. The new method is to batch rename the files to MPG, then use HandBrake to create Yadif 2X (bob) deinterlaced clips in h.265 at RF 15.

**Unlike** many Sony camcorders however, enabling 16:9 keeps the EIS enabled (Electronic Image Stabilization).

I'm happy to report that the 16:9 mode on this #camcorder looks great! I doesn't seem like any resolution was lost. Also, like many Sony Handycams, it's a true widescreen mode and not a cropped 4:3 frame aka "Cinema" mode.

Jeannie Novak - "Caprice" (Official Music Video) | piano improv from SYNCH Celebrating the end of summer and kicking off piano month with footage from 1940’s Coney Island paired with a piano improv soundtrack… CAPRICE (music): Original solo piano improvisation performed live at Bakery Sound + Vision and engineered by Stacy Carson. This was my "cool-down" piece during the session; it almost didn't become part of this project -- but this Coney Island footage revealing unexpected dark underpinnings seemed perfect for it. CONEY ISLAND - 1940 - Castle Films (footage): This film primarily focuses on Coney Island's great amusement park in its heyday – beginning with an aerial view of the beach and then focuses in on throngs of people lying on the sand and strolling along the boardwalk. Soon afterward, the film transitions to a carnival sideshow barker, and eventually to a series of rides – many of which would be considered dangerous by today's standards.
