10.02.2026 16:48 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0oh totally. I'm sure there has been the equivalent of drunkenly taking shots at targets since missle weapons were invented.

10.02.2026 15:54 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Having been shot at by (blut) arrows many times, armour is designed to deflect the incoming missile so it seems a bit random to shoot the insides. You'd want to practice shooting a specific target in a realistic manner.

10.02.2026 10:59 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Who knows. I can't help thinking there may have been better things to target practice against but then it would be a good sized, and realistic, target. Check the arrows v's armour videos for some interesting tests.

Milanesse armour was spot on work as well. From everything I've heard in the reenactment circles, it was what everyone wanted because it was both stylish and top quality. If it had been the other way round, they probably would have still been kebab mess.
10.02.2026 10:52 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I dunno, its a fairly good assumption someone was in there at the time. Theres some great videos on YouTube by Todd Cutler doing arrows against armour and they make some good points (badoom-tish) about the damage to armour. Crossbow bolts would be nastier going through the face and into the helmet.

I'd love a TOS episode with Londo and Kirk trying to outwit each other. It would end up with McCoy getting smashed with Londo on Saurian Brandy while Spock and Vir just stare at them in horror.

illustration of the helmet as worn by its owner, showing position of the bolts piercing from the top and rear and exiting through eyes, nose and mouth.
This helmet (servillier) of the 1 5th century, with three holes from crossbow bolts. was found in a fortified breach of the inner wall of the Italian city of Padua. The nature of the holes shows us the tragic fate of the defender of a medieval fortress. The helmet was manufactured in Milan's arms workshop Missaglia (Missaqlia) which is what the brand says. The helmet is pierced with three crossbow bolts. All trassological characteristics indicate that trace-forming obiects are crossbow bolts. Direction of flight of bolts - front and bottom. Most likely, by the helmet, that is by its owner, the defender of the fortress standing on the wall, the attackers fired from the crossbars below. Originally, there were no bolts in the helmet. During the restoration of the helmets, they were placed on display by a celebrated gunman and curator (curator of weapons and armour at the Bashford Dean Metropolitan Museum of Art.
that'd leave a mark

So it's Black History Month and that means I think it's a good time to get familiar with Mike Pondsmith, if you're not already.
When you see R. Talsorian Games, that's him. When you see Cyberpunk 2077, that's his world.
Mekton, Castle Falkenstein, also him.

Still in WIP stage but I made a good start on it today.

This scene in notable for me for something that... Makes me sound like a crazy person, but I'm going to pass it along and let you decide.
My authorized League of Extraordinary Gentlemen sculpture, and down toward the bottom, a bit about Mina's wardrobe in this scene:
