Just as I grabbed my order, this furious dude barges in yelling about how I cut him off in traffic earlier. Before I can even respond, he throws a punch but then out of nowhere the guy behind the counter jumps over it like he's been waiting for this moment his whole life and just beats the living hell out of the guy. The guy ran off and the cashier just dusted himself off. I said "are you ok man" and he looked me dead in the eye and said "B*tch, this is Little Caesars. We always hot and ready." Five stars. Will absolutely return.

I just left the Everglades Immigrant Interment Camp. No, Iโm not using their ridiculous name. It was a very tough to witness humans in those cages. Every Floridian should be ashamed that our taxpayer money is being used for this.

Your first sentence is a promise.
It promises voice. Potential. Setting. Relationship. Immersion. Any of these, plenty of others.
A great first line builds trust with your readerโwhether theyโre reading to acquire or for pleasure.
Before you submit, ask what youโre promising ๐

Today I held the finished copy of my book for the first time. Three years (or a lifetime?) in the making, and in just a month, itโll be in readersโ hands.
'Drystone โ A Life Rebuilt' is out 7 August.

Itโs amazing how fast they can build a concentration camp: โAlligator Alcatrazโโ but they canโt manage to fix a levee, fund a hospital, or get clean water to poor communities.

If it took 8 days to build a massive concentration camp in Florida then it means they could build and house the homeless at any point but choose not to

I rarely post personal things. But I need to talk about my 4-year-old niece, Hope.
She has a rare disease. A drug called elamipretide has helped her survive.
But the FDA recently denied its approval.
Now, her health hangs in the balance.
Please share her story & urge the FDA to reconsider. ๐งต
Bluesky you deserve some fireflies in a cornfield. Not pictured-the young hawk chased away by robins, the enormous kale after the rain, the smell of the tomato plant leaves.
