Embarrassingly, I do this with old games that spark nostalgia and joy. I can pop in a game from 10 years ago and blink the daylight has turned into night. But I love that feeling :)

Grifford Academy has pretty amazing gameplay. It is like a mixture of a coming-of-age YA novel meets tactical combat. It is a bit janky on the Steam Deck controls, but it is a good experience on my Mac.

My personal litmus test: how people feel about 4E, the mathematically superior edition as far as balance goes. It solved the Linear Martials/Quadratic Wizards problem. It gave roles to quickly make balanced encounters based on a real CR number.

As such, I don't usually hang with the 4E haters.

This has been a tabletop fantasy of mine ever since playing summoning-focused video games. The mechanics answer every situation I could come up with in my head. What about ambush? Check. Too much bookkeeping on minoins. Check. Minion surges? Check. Noncombat usage? Check. Really amazing all around!

In my homebrew campaign the PCs don’t know it yet, but the main city they are based out of is the Radiant Citadel. In a few more levels they’ll get the big reveal. Loved that book.

Was informed EE Doc Smith books were peak classic SciFi years ago. I slogged through them, waiting for that hidden gem that would make me go "ooooohhh yah, this is great". I never found that gem, and to be honest, they might have been great for that period, but through a modern lens-not great.

I don’t know why anyone wants to hate on things. Share your joy and happiness. Lift up the game titles that spark your happiness. If something doesn’t, move on because for sure someone out there just loves that game.
