Sargent continues " but have her in my home raising my kids, no thanks! " Dad- "Uhh..." Dad journals: If he hadn't been an E8, I might have said something, but it isn't possible for me to talk uphill and have something (body) talk down to me for any length of time. Nothing I could say could get through to him anyway- shake him enough to think for a minute about what he was saying "thinking". The same when Martin Luther King Jr. Was killed- people saying that "it's about time", "Good enough", and the like-- WHY? And these people call themselves Christians, Americans, and say they're fighting for the "democratic ideals" but continue damning negroes as inferior and a blight on the Great American Way of Life. They say that negroes should be equal and if they'll just wait (for a few hundred years more) they will be. A man comes along trying to bring about peaceful equality, get assassinated, and people damn him in his grave. What's next? A real Revolution. Guys here saying the Panamanian riots are uncivilized as they mount machine guns on the WHITE HOUSE STEPS.

(Please forgive the offensive/outdated use of some words, I'm hoping the overall sentiment will resonate.)
Just found a journal of my father's, written during his Vietnam enlistment, in barracks in Panama in 1968. Thought the timing was aprops, considering MLK day and that other THING happening.

Hudson, the old Chi-weenie dog, snuggled in a blanket with his ears perked up high, wearing a stuffed goat on top of his little head.

Mr. Hudson wears many hats around our place.

A tawny colored cat with her tongue out, rubbing her face and body on a cushioned stool to try and get the most out of a few snippings of fresh catnip.

Sushi, an absolute picture of grace and dignity, in the greenhouse thoroughly enjoying the catnip trimmings.

A small black chi-weenie dog with lots of gray on his muzzle has one ridiculously oversized ear perked up halfway to heaven as he basks in a sunbeam

Mr. Hudson and his comically oversized ear would like to remind everyone to stay vigilant, and enjoy the sun while it shines.

A 1/4 inch sized ceramic Baby Jesus nativity figurine is settled on top of a neon striped, triangular, fidget spinner.

The 4 year old said "Look Mama! I put da baby Jesus on a fidget spinner so he won't be fussy and cry!!"

So tender. But now I'm mentally using that as a kinda-swear word, in a rich southern accent. E.g. "Oh Sweet Baby Jesus on a Fidget Spinner, would you go wash them grubby little hands!"

A black book titled "Your Career in the Marines" is shelved right next to a yellow book titled "when someone in the family drinks too much" at our local library in the children's section.

The Dewey decimal system at our library has a dark sense of humor. "Your Career in the Marines" immediately followed by "When Someone in the Family Drinks Too Much."

As the spouse of a Prior Marine, yes, I absolutely laughed.

Sister kitties holding each other ever so gently

Two sister kitties alternate between trying to destroy one another, and our house in the process, then holding paws while they sleep.

We got Sushi and Ginger together from the same rescue litter. They cycle between trying to rip one another to tatters (along with the rest of the house) and striking the most ridiculously sweet cuddly poses.

The ever regal Mr. Hudson, sporting his eveningware and feeling nostalgic about his afternoon biscuit. Gone too soon.

My TLDR re: politics

Can you channel your rage into something positive?

For example, what can you do to help immigrants, trans people, women in need of an abortion, teens, people w/ disabilities, the homeless?

An hour of volunteering is more impactful than a week of raging online.

Mr. Hudson now has a full blown fan club. One felt so deeply moved as to knit 2 sweaters for his tiny naked body. This is the casual afternoon outfit.

Offering up his wee tender belly for scritches and loves after a full 90 minutes of cruel abandonment (aka errands).
