I'm noting an absence of any regret about the content of those messages.

The only reason he didn't keep emailing with Epstein is because Epstein got arrested. This man should not be anywhere near a classroom.

My friend @jakestepansky.bsky.social is building out the @qtlibrary.org, a Boston-based LGBTQIA+ lending library, and needs your help to resource their space and fund their mission πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆπŸ“šπŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈ

If you’re able, support them here:

This is far from the most important point, but having seen a handful of these emails I don't want to hear anyone complain about how informal student emails are ever again

A screen asking the user to estimate how long they waited on hold to speak to someone. I have entered 240 minutes (which is accurate) but got an error message letting me know I can only enter a number up to 60

Ingenious feedback form. No matter how long you actually wait, Eversource can claim that people only wait up to an hour.

Fox News Ran AI-Generated Racist Videos as News, Then Tried to Cover It Up The fake videos featured Black women with "seven baby daddies" complaining about SNAP cuts. Even if they'd been real, this would still be journalistic malpractice.

"We can’t fact-check our way out of this. We can’t AI-detect our way out of this. Because the problem isn’t that people can’t tell real from fake. The problem is that people don’t want to tell the difference when the fake confirms what they already believe"

A digital poster in the style of a World War II propaganda piece. Isolaed on a yellow background, a normal, squarish, 20-something guy with glasses is sitting working on a laptop. A ghostly figure of Hitler has his arm around the guy and is grinning and shaking a fist triumphantly looking at the laptop screen. On the lid of the laptop where an apple might otherwise be is an openAI logo, bright green, and dripping green ooze down the lid. Text on the poster, in combinations of sans-serif type and brush script reads:
Using Generative AI?
You’re prompting with Hitler!
GenAI is a Fascist Project!
Try using your brain instead
Don’t surrender your creativity to the tech billionaire’s control

If you can't figure out this thing that the overwhelming majority of athletic organizations *had already figured out* then maybe you shouldn't be governor

My most charitable comparison is with QR codes. There was a big push around using them in the 2010s, but you had to download a separate scanner, they weren't that reliable, and the use case wasn't entirely clear. Now, I find them useful *in certain circumstances* (but they're not the end-all be-all)

As a former school librarian, I think the insistence on calling it a "media center" (and the librarian a "media specialist") did long-term harm to the profession

It has the same energy as responding "I don't know, *can* you?" when someone asks if they can go to the bathroom. If the meaning is clear, you're just enforcing a hierarchy based on race/class

If I had explain American history in one sentence, I could do worse than "John Brown was hung for treason, but Robert E. Lee was not."

Recently finished @sophiegilbert.bsky.social's Girl on Girl which contextualizes the culture of the late 90s/early 00s, and what led to and surrounded the push to extreme exposure, especially for women. Highly recommend

Also useful for understanding why so many women in their 40s are full of rage
