The issue with having switched all my prescriptions to Costco is that sometimes I now have to go to Costco on a Saturday. It's a very large and loud crowded space full of rules that I don't 100% know, so this will take quite a bit of psyching up to happen.

My favorite thing about old Muppets bts photos is seeing the beloved characters of my childhood in the midst of some silly jape, being held up by Henson and Oz, who are staring at a camera feed with the grim intensity of a hostage negotiator.

I had to start telling my brother to STFU because he would start every conversation with something negative he saw online. He's switched from obsessively watching ragebait to hyperfixating on books in a genre I hate (but I don't care because I'd rather hear about it than Meidas Touch or whatever).

Other things learned in that class:

- Basic debate
- Diction
- Learning how to free-write (we had to write 10 sentences at the start of the class and it's helped me journal)
- Not everybody gets Douglas Adams' sense of humor (reading a bit of HGTTG aloud belly-flopped like a whale)

I've started making training videos for work and since nobody else will narrate, that task falls to me.

Proving once again that my eleventh grade speech class from high school was extremely clutch. Had no idea that class would be so frickin' relevant my whole life.

Door pressure switch on the furnace broke and shorted the whole system. It took nearly a week to get an appointment with an HVAC company. An electrician figured out the problem but couldn't fix it so we bought a new switch and got it working. Miserable 48 hours, tho.

Texted my bestie a pop quiz the other day. "Which of the following did not break last week?"

A. AC
B. Fridge
C. My bed
D. Garbage disposal
E. The dryer

(Answer was E. It broke earlier than that week)

Starting off August at the emergency overnight vet and it's still better than all of July.

Somehow the family chat topic turned to Animorphs tonight and I realized some things may never be okay. Uh, spoilers for a 20+ year-old book series, I guess?

Originally had the idea for my Hostage Girl books while watching Lois in Superman Returns.

Named a character Naomi Gunn after Gunn from Angel.

Gunn was named for James Gunn.

Who just directed my new favorite Superman movie.

Ultimately it means nothing but I think it's neat.

I like that Dropout is breaking the mold and making a foray into horror

Since the power was out I dragged myself to "that dinosaur movie" (I later looked up the title) and it's basically 2 very fun hours of "It's behind me, isn't it."

We had about 20 minutes of super intense storms that knocked out four trees in my neighborhood and have been without power ever since.

The dog has discovered there's a window in my bedroom (usually covered by blackout curtains because I don't spend much awake time in there) and he is Very Perturbed. And barking. Which makes this power outage even better, as you can imagine.

There were two or three cybertrucks in the parking lot at the CAKE concert and I do have to wonder if the owners were super uncomfortable the whole show or if they just lacked self awareness that the band on stage was mocking them in particular with the new songs.

I gotta figure it's the latter.

You know what, I'm finally ready to say it:

I'm still mad that Coach Bombay benched Julie for everything but the last shoot-out in Mighty Ducks: D2. That was some sexist nonsense and I expect better of you, Coach.

Yeah, I got a little obsessive, admittedly. Plus been feeling a little nihilistic with all the shit happening politics-wise. Excited that you're getting back into writing--anything fun? I need to finish the DC fic I was writing before current events derailed everything.

Stayed with my parents last weekend & they have my books in their guest bedroom. Read the first half of SUPERVILLAINS ANONYMOUS and came to 2 conclusions:

Holy shit, I'm hilarious. And Gail Godwin thoroughly, desperately, and completely needs a nap, ASAP.*

*being knocked unconscious does not count

So CAKE gives away a tree at their concert to a person who can guess the type and I felt so bad for the guy near me who guessed correctly but was misheard by the lead singer. Our entire section of the audience was outraged. Collective chanting was had.
