My department decided to admit fewer students for next year due to all of these uncertainties. The long-term viability of our graduate programming now seems unclear. Training the next generation of scholars is one of the best parts of my job and a core mission of R1 institutions. Dark times indeed.

Up to 169 IES contracts have been canceled, threatening critical education research. This is a major setback for educators & children with disabilities who rely on evidence-based practices. Urge Congress to protect IES research! #4SpecialEducation

Also the next generation of teacher preparation educators. We are already in a massive shortage of specialized teachers and teacher educators. This further extends the U.S. race to the bottom in work force. Remember, K-12 teachers (and their college instructors) are essential for ALL professions.

IES supported my doctoral training and program of research. Grants funded by IES go through a rigorous review process, resulting in evidence-based products that support teachers and children. This is a huge step back for the field of education.
