Universities are a huge benefit to their students and their future employers and to nearby businesses. But Tories are pretending (for votes) not to like universities, because they're cosplaying fascists. Actual fascists (like Trump) don't like education because educated people are less compliant.

It's risky to make laws to deal with a particular pressing problem. It can result in bad laws, drafted on the naïve assumption that the government and delegated authorities will always be well intentioned.

I reckon the UK Foreign Office might think that the *daily* protests in Tblisi against Georgia’s Russia-backed government are not a bad thing.
