For the record, my position was, is and remains that the people will not vote for a candidate that they think will sell them out. The centrists didn’t get this in 2008 either when they tried to convince everyone that the election would be lost if Obama got the nomination.

Because I actually think the DNC *would* commission a study for this. Because it’s *not* obvious to them that the walking sex pest who treats people like scum is somehow unpalatable, compared to a candidate who actually seems like a nice guy willing to fight for his constituents.

Well, from that perspective, technically the SEC doesn’t cost taxpayers anything either. It’s paid for by a Tobin tax, a tax on trades. Neither does the USDA food inspectors, who are paid for by the food plants, or the Office of Financial Research, which is paid for by a tax on SIFIs.
