Lived in Boston for years and the two seater part is not a deal breaker. The lack of cargo capacity and the ridiculously low seats are. When you need a cab, it is because you are going to have problems shifting yourself and your stuff. Or because you have mobility issues.

Here's an option, too:
it is very difficult to pull off, but sometimes you can convince your loved ones to observe a gift giving "truce".

Say 'You don't have to get me anything' and MEAN IT.

And you have to disarm too. no cheating. no "oh it's just a little thing, I couldn't get you ~nothing~"

I maintain that every one of these people should be forced to live on SNAP for a month.

I don't think we understand just how bad the decline of the Internet is to knowledge.

3 years ago, I could perform a very basic search in any engine and get an absurd number of relevant links, research articles, etc.

Today, I can perform the same search and find absolutely nothing.

Food is a human right regardless of who someone voted for and especially regardless of who their PARENTS voted for and a lot of y’all are scaring the shit out of me. I got a lot of the same when I said no one deserves measles, too, and the way this country thirsts for punishment is just very bad!

I hope we manage, as a world, to get a better result now. But I don’t have much hope.

My own views are partly shaped by a chance conversation with a Christian Palestinian, who left Israel after her child was killed in a suicide bombing. She was very bitter about the attacks against Israeli citizens. That was thirty years ago though.

I got asked about Biden, and why he didn’t act. I gave the point of view he would have seen. Of course you saw and still see things which would not have been visible from what was seen here over the decades. Most of the people I have had this discussion with have not looked at the context.

The history is complex, and there are no clear good guys. The best I can hope for is that Netanyahu and his cronies are voted out of power on the one hand and that the citizens of Gaza get the aid they need to rebuild without losing their land to a real estate deal.

Look for Palestinian workers being employed for the kind of work immigrants and refugees have done in The US and for much the same conditions. And then, when you are asking about Biden, remember he was reading those stories in real time. And seeing intelligence reports the public wasn’t.

Go even further back to the British mandate. The refugees and death camp survivors who left Europe because their homes were gone. Look at the Christian Palestinians, the PLO, the refugee camps in neighboring countries where there was no birthright citizenship.

Look, go to the library and read accounts in as many languages that you know. If you use Google be sure to limit your search to reports prior to October 7th. Go back to the suicide bombing campaign, and rocket attacks. Go earlier to the Camp David accords, and earlier yet to the Six Days War.
