Wow. That is news to me. Eels used to be everywhere!
95% reduction in 40 years in the UKโ€ฆ.

It isnโ€™t just Google/AI.
I wittnessed a tasting where the โ€œexpertโ€ tabled this as the first wine.
Nothing wrong with the wine, but not a patch on itโ€™s big brother.
When this was pointed out afterwards. His response was โ€œI canโ€™t afford the first wine. This is close enoughโ€.
Zero credibility.

Snap! 9 of those wines made my top Dozen! Particularly enjoyed this one.

Earlier today, I was at a cracking walk around, but was moving along next to a gentleman who had forgotten to shower.
I may may have been overly harsh on three or four wines before I realised that it wasnโ€™t the wineโ€ฆ.. the notes will be entertaining when I get to them tomorrow.

Will give them a try.
TBH, I was a little traumatised at seeing what I had considered to be the cheaper end of quality at such a sum.
Fvb, here we come!

Am in the Metropolis after a couple of glasses of wine and find myself on Jermyn Street. I used to buy all of my work clobber here.
WTF! Prices! I used to buy Loakeโ€™s because cheaper than Churchโ€™s. Now ยฃ600 a for standard Oxfords!
If were to spend ยฃ600 on shoesโ€ฆ

Rule number 2. Do not open eโ€™mails from favourite wine merchant after impromptu pub visitโ€ฆ
It could have been worse.
I had promised โ€œno more Claretโ€.
Failed ๐Ÿ˜ž . Cellar is way too French.
But, lovely wine at a very tidy price. What is a chap to do?
Thanks to @Tom.Mann

Thanks guys. Iโ€™m prepping family dinner. Have just opened random bottle of wine to help the sauce along โ€ฆ
Letโ€™s just say that the images conjured up are not aligned with enjoying a chilled glass of vino and a chilled cook!
Please tell me that this behaviour is confined to ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท or Northern ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น ?

Iโ€™m doing my lone dinner/pint over Decanter magazine. Always a great read. However, the ball has been dropped.
The excellent article on up & coming NZ wine makers, opened with a 1/2 page pic of Donald & dog (MokoHills). 7 pages and we didnโ€™t even learn the name of the dog! Wine looks great though ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

I normally quite like the Uk. But, itโ€™s cold and grey. Storms due. Nights are drawing in. And I got charged ยฃ7 for a pint yesterday.
Time to head south for the winterโ€ฆโ€ฆ
Meanwhile, back in reality, a full in-box awaits and rain for the next 6 months.

Yep. In the Douro, โ€œ500 yards awayโ€ could mean anything between a 2 minute walk and a 20 minute drive (complete with terrifying drops)โ€ฆ. Plenty of places to stop for a restorative glass of wine though!

Iโ€™m looking forward to this one.
Nebbiolo from the far north.
Made like an Amarone!
A wine loving friend brought me 3 bottles back from his travels with the โ€œdonโ€™t touch it for 3 yearsโ€ instruction.
Am I that strong enough? Has anyone tried it?

Totally Would it be a bad thing if the drinker was aware that their ยฃ50+ California Cabernet has been given a helping hand from other varieties?
We might need to draw the line at Chรขteauneufโ€ฆ..

Naked Wines..
Ocado like logistics ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป
Quality of product ๐Ÿฅฑ
Should be a great model.
But, their products remove all joy from drinking wine. Elevator music in a glass!
Iโ€™m used to being mildly bored by their competently made wine. But, this was bad. โ€œAstringentโ€ as the 1st word on the tasting note FFS.

Iโ€™m still waiting for โ€˜22โ€™s from a couple of smaller suppliers; so likely a two tier system of releases from the producers.
Although, I canโ€™t work out why.

Are some smaller seller Bordeaux En-Primeur offers just sellers gambling on the secondary market? Or, do they really not get their allocation until nearly a year after the bigger players?
22โ€™s bought EP(?) still not in the country; but same wine delivered 9 months ago from a bigger supplierโ€ฆ #wine

For bubbles champagne needs nucleation points overcome surface tension. These were glass faults however the better the glass the less imperfections! So makers etch them in - up to 20 points creating a ring at the base which produces columns of rising bubbles. #champagne #method #cider

ยฃ20 claret?
A lesson in letting an open bottle develop.
First tasting was overwhelming back currents with a mineral streak.
24 hours open. Different story. Much more together with some tidy flavours coming through. Am conflicted as to when to attempt the rest off the caseโ€ฆ

I got a horrible shock during the weekly supermarket shopโ€ฆ.. empty shelves where once was wine!
After a couple of minutes wandering the isles in a state of distressed befuddlement, I found a temporary wine section in the opposite corner of the shop. Emergency over.

Who said the Nebbiolo has to be pricy and have places beginning with โ€œBโ€ on the label. Once given a bit of air this was vibrant and enjoyable. Bitter fruits, ok length, clean and zippy. Not particularly complex, but for less than ยฃ25, letโ€™s not be too picky.

I believe that physical artificial shading of vines is forbidden.
The producer that I was chatting to was experimenting spraying a water / clay(?) mix onto the vines. They said that they had seen it in Australia and could get away with โ€œdusty vinesโ€ under appellation rules.
I could be wrong though.
