The opening letter of Frankenstein is so funny. The guy is headed to the North Pole, having convinced himself that it’s not bleak and desolate but a place of ecstasy because the sun never sets and its a magnetic pole. At the time, every attempt to reach the pole had hit a ‘frozen wall.’
