Big news! Judge strikes down federal offshore wind freeze!
Offshore wind delivers homegrown energy security for New England rather than leaving us vulnerable to price spikes in imported fuels AND it provides good, local jobs for Rhode Islanders. #YesToWind

Excited to share our new PNAS paper!

We find that recent methane growth was driven by agriculture/waste and wetland emissions, while fossil fuel emissions have remained stable despite growth in production, highlighting recent progress and further mitigation potential.

one of the most cynical things was that Republicans blocked several gigawatts of offshore wind power in New Jersey and then turned round and blamed Democrats for high electricity prices.

Over a third of animals impacted in deep sea mining test - scientists The findings contribute to a controversial debate that pits green technology against the environment.

๐Ÿšจ#BREAKING: A deep-sea mining test wiped out over a THIRD of seabed animals in the machineโ€™s tracks.

If tests alone cause this much damage, full-scale mining could be disastrous.

The deep sea must be protected, not exploited.

Greenland glacier hits record speed A river of ice in Greenland has become the fastest-flowing glacier currently known in the world, a study suggests.

The Jakobshavn Glacier is the fastest moving glacier on Greenland at 46 meters (150 feet) per day.

As the ice moves faster to the sea, it accelerates sea level rise. This one glacier alone is responsible for 4% of the rise in the 20th century.

There was a reversal in 2019, but concern remains.

Greenland without its ice sheet looks like a big bath tub. Inside the ringing mountain ranges, the ice, covering 85% of Greenland, is a mile thick (1.7 km) on average.

The weight of this massive layer of frozen freshwater pushes down on the land, meaning the bedrock is mostly under sea level.

New data reveals one of the smallest ozone holes inย decades Scientists from NOAA and NASA report that this year's ozone hole over Antarctica is the fifth smallest seen since 1992, the year that the Montreal Protocol, a landmark international agreement to phase out ozone-depleting chemicals, began to take effect. During the peak of the 2025 ozone depletion season, from September 7 through October 13, the ozone hole covered an average of about 7.23 million square miles (18.71 million square kilometers).

As of December 3, exactly 1,205 agencies have partnered with ICE through the 287(g) program. (An additional eight agencies are currently pending approval from ICE and the Department of Homeland Security.) Some 1,053 of these agreements were signed this year, meaning enrollment has increased by 693 percent compared to the end of 2024. The LDWF is one of just three state wildlife agenciesโ€”the others being the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resourcesโ€”that have signed 287(g) agreements with ICE, according to public ICE records. All three agreements were signed this year.

The marked expansion of the 287(g) program this year has generated relatively little attention. However, the documents from the LDWF indicate that the state and local agencies enrolled are actively detaining people not guilty of any crimes, and facilitating their arrests and possible deportation.

Data centres are energy hungry but what if we could use their waste heat to heat our homes?

That's exactly what happens in places like Finland: Cities are tapping the vast amounts of waste heat generated by data centres, and feeding it into district-heating networks.
