It's pretty amazing that CBC's The Current decided to give Israel's Canadian PR wing top billing to react to Canada's decision to recognize a Palestinian state. Did they ask Germans in Canada in 1943 to react first to support for the Resistance?

As a fellow Canadian I'm incensed that our country hasn't just refused to stop, but has been aiding and profiting off of it it all along. Hell, the IDF trains our cops to implement techniques tested on you know who.

It's crazy that in our timeline we get to see "democracies" run by corporations like the US and the UK call Israel, a genocidal ethnostate occupation, a democracy.

They will disband their military wing of their government when Israel withdraws from Gaza and recognizes Palestine as a state. Until then, they shouldn't release the hostages.

Just a reminder here that Al Jazeera does fantastic work but when it comes to Iran there's a huge bias as Qatari state media loathes Iran.

By independent do you mean a colony and military outpost for the west under Britain's ownership after the opium wars? What are your thoughts on that and how do you reconcile it.

If podcasts are more your thing, the China series that Upstream did is solid, esp the episodes with Prishad and Jason Hickel.

I think you would be as surprised as I was in learning about China and its ongoing socialist democratic experiment being as such, rather than the authoritarian genocidal hellscape it's painted as by the corporate and western state media

I would totally feast on a deep dive on this case
