06.02.2026 23:05 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I mean, and here was I thinking that 2026 wasn't going to be my year.
06.02.2026 23:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Got the zoomies in Lidl and accidentally bought 3kgs of parathas
06.02.2026 21:18 β π 8 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Well, I wasnt going to ruin your opportunity to deliver the punchline of your joke, now was I?
06.02.2026 21:13 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Dairylea Triangles, of course
06.02.2026 21:10 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0You are an genius!
06.02.2026 17:11 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I want to say 'Can I join you?' but not in a pervy way, you understand.
06.02.2026 17:05 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Is it too early to go to bed? Asking for me.
06.02.2026 17:00 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0That's ACH's department
05.02.2026 14:19 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That's so kind. Thank you! Keep everything crossed!
05.02.2026 14:05 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0So, as a fan of making things and a massive fan of paying bills, I've put my big girl pants on - we're off to a mentoring workshop tomorrow learn how to make our creative space pay. Planning to teach art in different media with a strong wellbeing focus for the βIβm not creativeβ crowd.
05.02.2026 13:54 β π 10 π 1 π¬ 2 π 0Totally. Some of it could be fixed upstream with proper workflow/terminology control. Like you say, post-editing βnormalβ output is a different job. You spend half your time undoing confidently wrong choices and inconsistencies. Itβs slow work, and it's not budgeted for fairly.
05.02.2026 13:46 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yeah, the tech hasnβt suddenly become brilliant at everything. Iβm all for using it as an assistive tool in the right places, but itβs being treated like a a cost-cutting lever, and weβre all left dealing with the same old pitfalls.
05.02.2026 13:43 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Oh yes, there's an agency on LinkedIn specifically recruiting translators who won't use or edit MT trash, which is refreshing. Agencies are the issue, you're right. It's a very difficult path at the moment, I do think the tide is turning a bit but I know so many who are giving up and starting fresh.
05.02.2026 13:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Iβve done 20+ years, picked up a few degrees, and built a word-of-mouth client base without advertising. I'd say if AIβs hitting you, itβs not a skills test, itβs a cost-cutting exercise. Yeah, I'm salty about it. I'm 50, and I need to train for something entirely new just to make ends meet.
05.02.2026 12:48 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The βAI only replaces bad translatorsβ take from smug translators not yet affected is very brave. Clients arenβt ditching you because youβre bad, they're ditching you b/c someone promised βgood enoughβ for cheaper. If your argument is βgood translators wonβt be affectedβ, I admire the confidence.
05.02.2026 12:42 β π 20 π 4 π¬ 3 π 0MY GO BOOK TOUR! as we say in Cornwall (sometimes, when we're excited)
30.01.2026 12:08 β π 21 π 8 π¬ 8 π 1I know. It's a real struggle at the moment. It's hard to find a bit of light among it all. You are the best. Love you, you lovely bean XXX
24.01.2026 13:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 1I'm sorry. It's rotten. Remember that you are smashing and marvellous and we think you are great.
24.01.2026 13:17 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Me: 'Alexa, play The Sisters of Mercy.'
Alexa: 'Playing The Sisters of Mercy'
Me: ...
Alexa: *Bunch of nuns singing*
Yes we can help, especially with things not to do so you don't get into strife, like us, over the long, long years.
24.01.2026 12:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That's wonderful. They are so debilitating. I found the propranolol had the same effect. I dropped from weekly attacks to just few a year, which was a relief. I only stopped because there was some kind of supply issue nationally. Seeing how it goes without now.
22.01.2026 10:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I took propranolol for the same reason, so when I had to come off it abruptly, it had the same effect as you. Palpitations too but it turns out thats due to me being anaemic. I'm a wreck. haha.
Anyway, I hope the atenolol is still doing the trick and your migraines are controlled. They are the pits.
Come to think of it, I did have to come off propranolol cold turkey a few weeks ago because of supply issues, (the doc does know), so maybe that's part of it, my brain hasn't got a fuckin' clue what's going on!
21.01.2026 22:42 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thanks, lovely bean. X
21.01.2026 22:38 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's really kind of you to take the time to reply. Thank you so much! A bit of moral support does wonders.
21.01.2026 22:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0You're right. I think I'll do that. I've just realised I'm on 5mg. Haha, I don't even know what I'm taking, I'm so bloody useless. I think daily for now will do. Thank you, you are a good pal. X
21.01.2026 22:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I've felt shit since I started tapering but wanted to come off them to see if they're doing owt for me at all b/c my depression is pretty debilitating even on the full whack. But that is good advice. I need to think about it. Things are going a bit wrong for us atm, so it's prob terrible timing.
21.01.2026 22:17 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Well I had been on the 2.5 daily for a few weeks so I dunno if I should just suck it up and stop being a fanny, or whether to go back to daily for a bit.
21.01.2026 22:10 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I've been tapering for a couple of months. I started on 20 mg, I'm now down to 2.5 mg which I'm supposed to be doing on alternate days but it's not working out that well, TBH. There are worse things, I'm alright, it's just odd and a bit unpleasant.
