Flashing back to the distain, dismissal and outright venom the Mayor and some Councillors spit at the Charge and PWHL reps during committee.

Gotta belief this materially and adversely hits the revenue potential of the proposed arena as the Charge are the only paying tenant. If the L2 nums weren’t pie in the sky before they sure as hell are now.

Imagine a P3 but where the City is legally absolutely and entirely subservient to the other partner not only in respect of LRT matters but in literally everything it does.

The only one who wins here is he guy who ran on “fixing public transit” but instead let it rot.

It’s almost the opposite. All the devs want is the big, profitable residential towers, more parking, less mtnce and free rent for their sports teams. The “public” facilities replacement is the cover story for giving them the whole enchilada.

For some (I suspect large) fraction of the lost speed cams no alternatives – calming, signage, redesign, direct enforcement – will ever be implemented. We are kidding ourselves if we expect effective alternatives.

This morning speed cam on Bridge St in Manotick was dismantled. It was on a crazy busy truck route past a school, park, library & seniors residences. Operated perhaps 9-10 mths & absolutely stopped endemic speeding. No calming will ever be installed. Signs were ineffective pre-cam. Expect same now

Last year it was the PILTs and the 174 upload that would save us. This year the dream is Ford swallowing the multi-billions LRT pig whole. No one is going to save us. We have to save ourselves. But this crew is only interested in saving themselves.

But seriously that lame begging just exposes Sutcliffe’s cowardice. He ignores the city’s burgeoning fiscal crisis and just pitches «don’t worry be happy» to slip into another term. He’s still living the op-ed life where bad choices have zero consequences.

I love how the Mayor of Lansdowne just disappears on this and many other issues. No personal political advantage to be gained = DGAF.

War is horrible, and a tragedy that damages everyone involved. The best possible way to honour the victims of war is to devote ourselves to finding ways to avoid ever fighting another war.

While I would normally agree, that floor-crossings can put a PP govt off for 4 years and may do meaningful damage to his near term leadership prospects is compelling.

Sorry for the sarcasm but I simply cannot imagine a Council that will vote for L2 supporting anything even mildly innovative or ground breaking. They can’t patch a fricking sidewalk without screwing it up.

Exactly. But neither of these things are or will happen because the Sens will be wanting big cash/concessions from the City and L2 makes that ask effectively impossible to refuse. So incestuous.

Wouldn’t it be nice if the #SENS’ Andlauer and Leeder spoke up publicly for the Charge. They regularly make a big deal of loving this city and its fans but seems that affection only applies when they benefit from it.

And I believe it is indisputable the threats facing the nation now are massively greater and more enduring than in 2009.

It’s like OSEG and the mayor don’t want engagement. But that can’t be. Can it?
